  • Need a cheaper snooker club

I live in Dunstable and the club here is £6 an hour and rising.
Solo practice is ridiculous cause I can only really do an hour or hour and 30 mins before it gets stupid.
Anyone know of any clubs around that are cheap?

I did have a mate that had a snooker table at home but he moved which sucks

    Thanks

If you join a social club like a working men's club or a Conservative club, you will find table rates are a hell of a lot cheaper.

But the downside is that if people are waiting to play, you usually have to give up the table after 30 minutes.

Yeh there is a cons club 2 mins from me that is £1.50 an hour. I don't mind giving the table up after 30 mins at all....

        Need a cheaper snooker club

I'm a member of a local social club only 2 mins away and it's £1 per 30mins and cheap beer too. I used to pay over £6 and drive 15 miles to play!! Surprising how many little places nearby u never even new existed. Although I made the mistake of walking in on league night an they were a player short and before I knew it was playing league snooker! Now I'm hooked...

Yeh I'm going to get a membership at the cons club and pay £1.50 an hour rather than £6 an hour on wonky tables

standard rates in the clubs in my area are at £7,4 per hour ... no wonder business is going down the drain.

Blimey that's daylight robbery!! I especially hate it when they use those crappy energy saving bulbs too. Ok yeah they're great for the ozone etc but blimey they are mostly dim and awful to play under.

7.50 ph after 4pm and weekends including bank holidays. Robbery but what can you do. Most of the clubs are shut down and reopened under bloody tesco and sainsbury's ltd.

Building extensions on the back no planing permission needed( new law) to accommodate full size table. I bet will get my money back in 5 years time than snooker free!!!

Our 'championship' standard table is 7.50 an hour and has 6 energy savers on it, heating that doesn't work and also a MASSIVE role in the middle pockets

Do you clowns have any idea how much a snooker club needs to take to stay open. While your all moaning about paying 6 or 7 pound a hour does it not enter your heads that the reason clubs are shutting and you have no where decent to play is because people wont pay a fair amount to play.
Next time you go 10 pin bowling or go pay for a round of golf have a think about it,perhaps when the only clubs open are 1 or 2 table social clubs and you cant get a game you might just grasp it..

I am sure they cost a lot to run but putting the prices up just stops people going to kill a couple of hours. I used to practice a lot in my local WMC during the day on my days off but with my local snooker hall charging £6 ph it is an expensive few hours of practice.

Years ago it was about £2.50 an hour so I would play with non WMC members and between us it wasn't too bad.

If they made it cheaper more would go and they would get more money coming in and sell more drink and food as well.
