    Thanks.
The billiard encyclopaedia I've just read says they were no longer made after 1900. It's interesting to know they were still being made right up to the 30's. I've tried using it but it seems to be a skill on its own.

The Billiards Encyclopaedia by Victor Stein is an interesting read and contains a lot of useful information, giving a unique American perspective on the history of the game and it's implements. I would recommend it to anyone who has not yet had the opportunity to read it.

If you are trying to use the bagatelle mace with a full size snooker ball you will indeed find it very difficult to use. It was designed to propel a much smaller and lighter bagatelle ball. The face of the head would have been above the centre of the ball rather than below it, so it tends to push the ball down on the table rather than lift it up.
