Ball along top of cushion foul question !!

Was playing a match yesterday and a funny situation arose that caused much debate !!

Proberly been asked before but my playing partner jumped the red ball onto the cushion, the ball rolled along the wood and NOT on the cloth and then rolled into the corner pocket.

I believed this to be a foul as it fell out the defined playing area.

Could someone please clarify whether this was indeed a foul shot or has my friend been harshly done by

No it's not a foul.

Section 2-14 - "a ball is forced off the table if it comes to rest other than on the bed of the table or in a pocket, or if it is picked up by the striker whilst in play..."

The ball came to rest in the pocket so it is deemed a fair shot i.e. no foul.

You harshly did your friend by, it's not a foul if it ends up on the table or in a pocket so I think even you could force it off the table and bounce it off the walls, floor or a small dog into a pocket, think it has to get into the pocket opening though, not just end up in the rails.

Indeed. And of course s3 r10 says that the penalty for forcing a ball off the table is the value of the ball on or ball concerned, whichever is higher.

Okay, he's probably utterly disgusted by the fluke but the Thai player did apologise. He could have been more gracious imo. Looks really small to me... If I were the Thai player, I'd do a fist pump the next time I fluke against him... Lol...
