  • Scoring application used at the 2013 Masters

I've just been to Ally Pally to see the Robertson/Murphy semi. The scoreboard contained ticker tape row showing the shot activity separated by commas.

1..7 points scored for potting ball
F:# Foul with number of penalty points
    EOF End of Frame

However C and P were displayed and I can't find a meaning. Does anybody know and enlighten me?

    Thanks.

I recall that C is clock, i.e. when the frame starts. The P is Player - denoting a change of player (i.e. non-scoring shot).

    So, for example

    1 7 1 7 1 P P 1 7

would be one player getting red-black-red-black-red-then missing colour(or playing safe). His opponent then makes a safety/fails to pot, an then the same player who scored previously, again starts a break.

There is one other important symbol, RR (might be just a single R) which means Remove Red. This is when someone fouls and a red comes off the table - it is important (like the Free Ball) to make sure that the number of points remaining on the board stays correct.
