I was wondering whether this would have to be played from where it is because it hasnt officially left the table or whether it is ball in hand and to be played from the D in the baulk end?

It has left the table so is a foul shot
The table is the playing surface, if it came back on then it's a legal shot

This has been know but is rare.
The ball is officially OFF the table, in the rules any ball not coming to rest not on the bed of the table or in a pocket is either 1) Cue Ball, ball-in-hand for the new player, 2) Red - pocketed, 3) Colour - spotted.

Thank you thats how we played it last night it was a foul anyway because i jumped the black and it jumped the pocket and rolled round the edge and stopped where it lay! It was awsome to watch but very weird haha! still not as good as alan mcmanus's shot though
