  • Ronnies ranking?

Hi, has anyone worked out what ronnies world ranking will be if he reaches the final of the world and if he wins it? I think he started in round 1 at no 28!

Yes he was rank 28 at the start of WSC.
See the following webpage where Hermund has had this in hand for years:
    http://www.snooker.org/res/index.asp...19&season=2012
as you can see the semi-finalists have been allocated the ranking points for getting to this stage (6400).
8000 for runner up, and 10000 for winner.
So Ronnie could have 3600 more points to the provisional which would take him to 46360 which to me makes in 19th.
If he came runner up then he would be 20th.
But then next year it will all be on prize money and not ranking points.
See http://www.worldsnooker.com/page/Wor...216576,00.html and click on the money list as at after the Welsh Open for an example, as you can see ROS is very high up the list due to his winnings over the rolling-two-year period.
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Next year is on ranking points, its 2014-15 before it moves to the money list.

According to the bbc commentators Ronnie would be 19th if he were to win the world championship

So if he wins it and does defend it next year the poor old world number 16 will have to qualify again, like Mark Davis had to.

He's ranked 19th now, but his ranking for the next World Championship will depend on how much he plays next season (and how well he does if he does play).

Yeah but there is another way to look at this. If Ronnie played all year he would be in the Top 16 and that person would be number 17, either way they have to qualify.

if he were to enter the UK championship for example still outside the 16, would he have to qualify or is he in as World Champion??? cant seem to remember how this worked with Shaun Murphy in 05

Ronnie will be seeded N0 2 for all ranking and invatational events next season because he is the World Champion, except for the 2014 World Championship where he will be the N0 1 seeded player, but the UK Championship like all events except Australian Open, China Open and World Championship next season will be a flat 128 draw with all players coming in at Rd 1 of the event, so Ronnie will be in the bottom half of the draw where as Mark Selby defending UK Champion will be N0 1 seed and at the top of the draw

seedings for the Wuxi Classic will be N0 1 Top of the Draw Ricky Walden (The Defending champion) bottom of the draw N0 2 seed Ronnie O' Sullivan The world Champion, and middle of the Draw Bottom half (N0 33) Mark Selby (seed N0 3 and world N0 1) and middle of the draw top Half (N0 32) Neil Robertson the world N0 3 (Seed N0 4)

hope this helps you a bit
