i had a john parris chequered cue, lovely cue but it felt like it lacked quality, took long enough to make though. sold it and brought a dragon cues, cue, designed it myself, but i have found this cue to be a bit cheap (cost 300 though) - do anyone know of any cue makers that make top quality cues, that feel like quality, or is better to get an old cue?

the only trouble with both parris and wooldridge is price. trevor is a very good night out at the snooker with dinner travel and a meal cheaper.

If anyone asks me questions about cues, I'll answer completely honestly and give advice which is primarily in the interest of the player.

With regard to the post above, I'd just like to clear some points up.

ALL my timber, especially that for the shafts, is hand selected by myself.
It's a painstaking, time consuming and laborious job, looking through many many boards of ash or maple to select only the very best materials for shafts.
Even after that process, some can be slightly defective when converted to the round shaft, which is then discarded. This whole process costs time and money.

Also, the sourcing of many exotic timbers is rapidly becoming ever more difficult, with prices rising at an alarming rate. This is particularly true of ebony, which has seen substantial price increases over the past 2 - 3 years and is pretty much an essential for quality work.

So to be more accurate, no, I don't get any materials from the Far East.
In fact, the timber for shafts comes from the New England part of the U.S.A. and the Ebony from West Africa (now at least) but never from the Far East.
Thinking of it, I don't think I use any timber from the Far East.

So, speaking for myself alone anyway. I can positively say that I go to fair lengths to produce what I feel is a product that will match 'ANYTHING' that 'ANYONE' else can build.

I do this myself, all of it, and as I've said, almost exclusively by hand.
hi trev its tim from pembroke just a word of thanks for repairing my pro-butt( i hope you remember me ha! ha!) i picked it up off you the night jimmy was in morriston it is as superb as when new a great job much appreciated. you dont need to big it up as you say coz your work speaks for itself. and for all you other guys out there trev has worked on my cue a couple of times i had it shortened and re-ferruled and had resplice near the joint(very dodgy place) and in my opinion there is nooone better and i am privaliged to get his service. keep it up trev. thanks again. hope i dont need anymore repair but if i do noone else will touch my cue.
