Wipe it down with a damp towel, then buff with a dry one. This weather ain't helping

Do you know if its is oiled or lacquered? what make is the cue?

Don't sand the cue!! It will only ruin it in the long run. As said, just wipe it down with a damp cloth and then a dry one. Also worth washing your hands before playing and having a cue towel to wipe your hands occasionally during the game.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
      I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

yep as has been said, don't sand the cue down.
The pros tend to have two towels at their table, one slightly damp and one dry; for their cue and their hands.
Usually the main problem is the hand, especially in hot weather and long time playing.
So keeping the hands clean and dry is the first, wiping the cue second.
        best of luck

I took a little hand towel along with me yesterday and it was a bit better,Our local clubs air con aint the best so it gets really stuffy in their!

Will take a damper one also then! Thanks for the suggestions

Tell me about it... I can work up a good sweat playing in some clubs.
