      4oz equates to 113g
A set of TCs should be 140g +-2g or 3g
      140g is just under 5oz (4.93oz)
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

What are you using to weigh them?

113g!! Crivvins, that's just a set of marbles! Even the Aramith Premier are 128g. Must be wonky scales.

Although the official rules do not state a specific weight for the balls, the range of 140-142 grams is generally accepted by the WPBSA, and this is what is stated in the SRA explanatory notes that go with the rules.

Is just that his scales have not quite clicked over to 5oz surely?

They just go up in increments of 1.

So they are very very nearly 5oz, but because they are not quite, the scales say 4oz.

Must be very poor scales then

Yeh I have digital scales which go up per gram. I weighed a training snooker ball on them and it was 135g.

That would certainly explain things. Pointless weighing snooker balls on scales calibrated like that. You really need digital scales calibrated to 1/100th of a gram.

Hi mate, bit off topic but coud I ask you about the training ball? Are they useful? What do you do with it? Does it not cause problems when it's lighter than the other balls? Would it not cause you to overhit shots? Been thinking of getting one or a while. Thx.

I've used it once! It's the one with points of strike, like a crosshair of sorts, as opposed to the one with red dots.

If you're passing Cowdenbeath' you can have it.

Thx. So I'm reading you wouldn't recommend I invest in one!

Maybe if you're having issues with screwback or spin etc... But they're under a tenner, so not exactly a huge mistake if you don't use it. RE the weight - I couldn't detect a difference, but there's only 6 or 7 grams of difference between the balls.

I used manual kitchen scales, so it was probably a bit wonky. Should I be using digital kitchen scales?
