Glad you agree. I mention the Pink being pocketed in the first line of my scenario: "With Pink and Black the only object balls left, the striker pockets the pink but goes in-off".

      .
i wouldn't think this would be fair, firstly why would the seconds players 75 points be more valuable than the first players 75, secondly if this was a rule the second player would make sure to get on the last black at a good angle leave an easy pot for when it was re-spotted, effectively it would be like giving the frame to the second player, which would mean the first player not getting any reward for his efforts.

i think a fairer proposition would be as mentioned the second player has the choice who goes first on the re-spotted black.

I would assume that Frank was still intending for a normal respotted black, with the cue ball being played from in-hand but with the player who potted the black automatically being the person to strike first at the respotted black.

Surely he would only have a chance to pot it if he was somewhere around the black spot, from the D is not an opportunity to pot.

again he could only get position on the black to pot it if the white stayed on the table.

this is how i understood it, i may be wrong, i am happy for Frank to correct me

SRA meeting this Friday 15th Nov. Hopefully I will be able to get all the answers from Derek and find out just what is going on with this.

Following the SRA meeting last night, I had time to ask several questions as regards my first post. I was told that the IBSF had not adopted the ball on edge of pocket, foul committed etc that the ball could be placed anywhere on the table for the 15 red game but only for the six reds, but then told that Derek, being the 'link' between IBSF, WPBSA and Euro that he had recommended that the WPBSA rules be adopted by all three, and as far as he knew, this was the case. I am still a little confused as which tournies are run by whom, and time did not allow me to get to the bottom of that, but I am sure that there are many of you out there that do.
Also got the sad news that Dan Lewis had resigned as Dir of referees for the EASB.
It seems to me to make complete common sense that one rulebook should be used across the world for the game of snooker and hopefully this is the case. There are still a lot of grey areas in my head about various set ups that the different organisations have but over time I hope that all will become clear.
