  • 9-ball cue for snooker?

Now that ive bought a UK 8-ball cue next on my shopping list is a 9-ball cue and ive got my eye on one fitted with the predator Z2 shaft and the tip/ferrulle is 11.75mm.
Could i also use this for snooker or is the tip size just a bit to big,Would really like your opinions on it.

    Cheers Matthew.

I would say 11.75 is too big for the modern game.
In the old days, 11-12mm tips were quite common but now 10mm tends to be the largest, with 9.5mm the most common size that people can get the control they are after.
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

Yeah bud i emailed Trevor the other day he had a few partially finished ash cues so he sent me pictures of them for me to choose which one i liked so he's adjusting it to my specs(8.5mm,57" ETC) cost me £485 inc postage and he said he could finish it within a week so dead chuffed.

No I wouldn't use a 9-Ball cue for snooker I think you would find it very difficult to control the white. The balls used in 9 Ball pool are heavier than snooker balls I actually damaged my snooker cue playing 9 Ball and that's from just playing shots I used a regular 9 ball cue to break. You need to be far more accurate and precise with snooker than pool so in my opinion ideal tip size for snooker is 9mm.

I play a bit of 9-ball pool with my snooker cue on rare occasions. The tip sure looks tiny when lined up against the cue ball.

But how was your cue damaged playing 9-ball?

I played quite a lot of 9 ball with it and I think playing deep screws and maybe hitting the ball a bit harder with the deflection on the cue from the weight of the cue ball took its toll on the weak part of the shaft by the ferrule

Ouch... I never broke off with my snooker cue but I think I'd better stop using it altogether.
