  • UK Championship 2014

A friend of mine has a job in England for the next year. He has invited me to stay with him whenever I want. I intend on going to India and somewhere in south east Asia with my mum too. But to wrap it all in a neat little package which will save me a few dollars, I am thinking of visiting him in England.

In my head, I am thinking Sydney > stopover > England > India > SE Asia > Sydney. Ideally, this will happen over November, December and January.

With the opportunity to stay in England I would have to go and see some live snooker. At the time of year that I have nominated, it is either the UK Championship or the Masters 2015. The latter would be a bit difficult due to it being held in mid-Janaury.

Just a few question if anyone can assist.

    1. What is the better tournament to go to, UK or the Masters?
    2. How easy are tickets to get?
    3. How expensive are tickets?
    4. I believe my friend is in Brentfordshire (he will be moving somewhere else within London). What is the easier venue to get to?

Also, for those who have interests in other things. I wouldn't mind going to the darts too. I know the World Championship starts in mid December at the Ally Pally. I would be asking the same questions as above.

If your friend is going to be moving to London, the easiest tournament for you to go and see would definitely be the Masters....

I've been quite a few times and it's brilliant, the atmosphere was electric last year when Ronnie won which I was lucky enough to get a ticket for.

Ticket prices for the earlier rounds are £15 plus a booking fee...... But the prices go up for semis and final.

I managed to tickets quite easily for quarters, but if you want the semi or final sessions I would advise you book up early as you can cause sell out first unless you want to buy an overpriced one from any of the ticketing websites like stubhub etc.

Thanks for the info. No dates are locked in yet, but I was targeting the UK Championship. Main reason being that when I went to India last time I left Sydney in late November. So if I were to replicate it again and leave Sydney for England that time, it would coincide with the UK, rather than the Masters - now you got me thinking.

Its good to know that the tickets are reasonably price (but I do hate those fees).

Can you, or anyone else shed some lights on the darts? More so in regards to ticketing and prices. It too is held at the Ally Pally.
