  • rule regarding end game

Playing partners, Team A sank the pink leaving only the black, Team B needed (1) snooker (Team B was down by 8). Not being sure if the game was OFFICIALLY over, Team B wanted to try the almost impossible snooker by leaving the white positioned at an inside corner bank and asked that TEAM A continue with the black. They did, then fouled, and Team B sank the black after that, thus winning the game.
But Team A contested, saying that the game was in fact officially over after they had potted the pink. Is there such a rule? We all understood that normally, Team B would concede at that point when Team A had potted the pink, but Team B felt they had the official right to continue on to try the snooker at least once (just for fun more than anything).
We have heard lots of peoples' points of view, but I would like to know about official rules which might apply.
    Thanks in advance!

    4. End of Frame, Game or Match
    (a) When Black is the only object ball remaining on the table, the first score or foul ends the frame excepting only if the following conditions both apply:
    (i) the scores are then equal; and
(ii) aggregate scores are not relevant.

So the first foul on the black meant team B gets 7 points and loses the game by 1 point.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

mythman69, yep that is correct, Sec 3, 4. End of Frame, Game or Match does apply.
Actually Sec 2 1. Frame applies to the scenario above.

      1. Frame
A frame of snooker comprises the period of the play from the start (see Section 3 Rule 3(c)), with all the balls set as described in Section 3 Rule 2, each player playing in turn until the frame is completed by:
      (a) concession by any player during his turn;
      (b) claim by the striker when; Black is the only object ball remaining on the table, aggregate points are not relevant, and there is a difference of more than seven points between the scores in his favour; ...

so Team A would have the right to claim the frame, as they pot the Pink so they are Strikers with the Black only being on the table.

      The Game WAS OFFICIALLY OVER.

Or to put that in plain English, if more than 7 points difference in scores once pink is potted, the frame is already over, NO NEED to carry on

Some matches are based on multiple frames where the score from each frame is added together (aggregate) for the final score.
In Aggregate matches the final black would still be potted by either player as its score will add towards the final score for the players.
