  • Peradon Classic balance?

    Hi,

It's my first post here, so sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

I'm interested in getting a really nice cue at some point, hopefully to last a lifetime. I was looking at the Peradon Classic, and I really like the looks of it! The question is: How does it play? Based on the splice-less butt and the centre joint, I'd imagine it probably balances a little weird?

If anyone could tell me about this cue, that would be great!

I had a peradon pulsar was a well made cue for the money put not for me. In all they are nicely balanced cues and play well it was not center jointed tho.

i now have an old center split Barracuda gold medal cue

I would say it all depends on your budget, what quality of cue you will be looking at.

I want to buy 'the' cue; the one that will last for life but, if I can't achieve that, I want to buy a cue that I'll be comfortable with until I become proficient enough to justify a more expensive one. I'm willing to spend more if necessary, but probably no more than £200.

You are best of buying a decent 2nd hand cue than a cheep new one

You will get a very nice playing cue for around that money I would say, better than a peradon, IMO .

Second hand? Ok, but where's best to do so? EBay?

              Thanks,
              Joe

What are good makes to look out for? Could someone post a link or two as to what I should be looking for here?

Please bear in mind that I'm a student so, although I could spend about £200 on a cue, it would take me a very long time to save up that much (as in I might be able to afford it next Christmas!).

                Thanks again,
                Joe

britannia cues go for about 150£. Snooker cue sales forum on Facebook is a good shout for good deals.

If you want a new cue and you're on a budget, you cant go wrong with Robin Scott cues. Really well made and you pick them up cheap enough with case, mini butt and extension on ebay. Bought 2 in the past and was really impressed. Although you'll have to change the tip straight away and the telescopic extension can be a bit flimsy. I wouldn't wave the cue about on full extend.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. My Cannon Azure turned up today and it's really nice, regardless of the price tag!

What I've decided I'm going to do is build my own cue. I have more than enough experience in violin making and general woodworking, so I'm going to make an ash and ebony cue to my specs (I'm thinking 57" with 9.5mm tip and 29mm butt, ash and ebony with cocobolo front splice and 3/4 joint at 16" from butt). I've got plenty of ebony, just need to find some ash! At the very worst, I'll have spent time learning from my mistakes!

                        Thanks guys,
                        Joe

                              Peradon Classic balance?

don't bother looking for ash blanks you won't know what's good or bad, just look at some rack cues pick one that you like and straight then just resplice it
