    Forget the - clearance practice staying in the flow and keeping calm and focused in a session throughout the day - see what happens - tell yourself it only counts doing it this way - how about that?

            Don't take this the wrong way as it's meant in the nicest way,but you'll never achieve a ton if you keep worrying and going on about,it will come when you least expect it normally after a sh*t couple of games,forget about it.

                All joking aside, thanks for that the other day. It really made me think and I must admit I've got a lot more relaxed point of view about the whole subject now. Thanks again mate

                  About 30 years ago I played a league match for the old gas board against the water board, they really hated each other and it was my first season as a nipper having shown some promise to the oldies!

                  I had won the deciding match frame and was on 55 just about to tap the blue in when the ref started pulling the cloth over the table while I was still cueing. Our team jumped up confronting some of their colourful charactors whilst the guy was protesting saying I'd won anyway and I then rattled an easy blue.

                  As for my first emotions, obviously they were mixed as I thought we were lucky to get out alive but I still remember how pleased I was to get my first 50, how cheesed off I was not to tap the last 3 in for 73 and how I really miss those times and characters in the 80's in the Portsmouth league.

                  I started playing again 3 years ago and the closest I have got is 86 so revamping my action to try and give it a go. Have had a couple of centuries in the line up, one I was lucky enough to video and the position and stabby cue action was enough to make me try and revamp my style!!

                  Got to love this game.....

                    Made my first ton (103) a couple of months ago after numerous good opportunities leading to 80s, 90s etc. Now I have finally done it my game seems to have gone to sh1t! Still winning games but my scoring has really deserted me. Beginning to wish it hadn't happened!*

                    I was a pool player mainly for the last 10 years but played snooker with my Uncle who was a regular century maker as a kid. He practiced with another guy who was also of that level so I had seen very high level stuff at an early age. I always remember him saying to me one time after I had missed a pot and got rather peeved 'well, at least you sit in your seat like a snooker player' which I have stolen and used to wind up a few pals...

                    * but not really lol

                        You are not alone , we all do it. i myself practice certain routines, and some time in a game or practice land on the exact spot that i want and then think perfect. but for some reason either lack of discipline, focus , Arrogance or other i end up messing the damn thing up.

                        i'm getting so frustrated with the line up though, i haven't been able to get all 15 reds yet, but have had 13 and 14 many times, it just seems when it gets down to the last 2 or 3 my brain switches on and starts to think. bad idea really as i have just potted 13 reds and colours on auto.

                        i'm hoping that the more i practice them i will eventually do it, and the sooner the better because its slowly grinding me down.

                          There are different line ups to practice if you getting bored of the ordinary one -

                          I prefer the cross thing anyway in practice - as this helps you develop more close control and soft stuns and things - stops you getting in the habit of over hitting it

                            The first time I tried the cross line up I did twelve reds, thought I would clear it no probs, that was a stupid thing to think

                              I remember going to that cue zone thing in passing at one event whilst waiting for a match to start I had tickets for and some coach set it up said he was going to have a competition to see who in the crowd could pot the most - I put my hand up handed my little lad my jacket as I was picked out to go first - I stepped under the rope borrowed the guys cue walked up to the table and cleared the lot -

                              Crowd clapped and I felt good as my lad was watching - Right he said - lets not bother with that one lets move on and do something else and he handed me a little plastic gold medal on a ribbon which I gave to my little lad.
