Just so frustrating, if anyone can bottle 'the zone' will make a fortune

shame mate i think you worry about it too much just go out and play if wanna go for a 10/90 ball go for it nothing stopping you just play your frame i like the competetive edge brings best out of me, practice and knocking loads of breaks in practice does nothing for me if there are no matches at the end of it no point really but spose if u enjoy the game it works for you !

would never play in a league that is handicapped that is pointless as you say but like ted said our league not like that its all off scratch and u play in division that best suits your ability so yes it is a night out but also competetive depending what level you play at so dont buy into one frame snooker being rubbish ....a lot of the top pros played it before they made it in the game and did them no harm it tests the temperment in ways no other form of snooker does in my view

I have been playing well, I find to pass the 100 mark I need to stop playing like Marco Fu who goes for all the open balls before going up to the blue for a break of the reds. I now play for blue instead of black on long shots early in the game hoping to get right angle to destroy the reds and cause some damage. Hope it will be this year... Congrats to the 100 belt buckle guys, great read, like this thread. Cheers
I try hard, play hard and dont always succeed, at first.!!!!:snooker:

Been playing badly for a while with a new tip so went to the club today with a video. Did the line up and eventually got a 111 and then played 2 frames afterwards. Got a 39 then a 24 which isn't bad at the moment. Played the next one and got 100 dead of the first red, I was just bowled over as my highest was 86 last year and I've been playing on and off for 35 years (51 now).

I cut a crazy black rather than go for an iffy pink so if I missed at least there would be no regrets. I the missed the last red as too excited.

We all went to the video and the bloomin battery had run out as I had been there three hours but it got my 111 so at least I could see what rhythm I had before the break.

Feel free to give me any advice as I only do the local league stuff these days:

How much action did I get on the last yellow.....dummy!

Just wanted to share this as never thought it would come at my age.

                        Absolutely made up mate.

Had 3 or 4 lessons with Tim Dunkley at Chandlers Ford which really helped me understand rhythm, ball control and straight cueing so very grateful to him and the coaching reports he writes after each session.

I wished I'd done coaching years ago but still love the game anyway.

I had a hole in one at golf once but you can't fluke this so a really nice feeling.

Great stuff and glad you found a coach who helped
                          you improve your game.

Yeah. I wish I'd met Tim in the 80's when I used to play most nights but didn't know where to learn new things to help.

I certainly didn't know anyone doing line up or the reds in a 'T.'

It's the same as golf, if you start without a basic grounding you grow with your mistakes. I would advise anyone to use a coach occasionally rather than spending hours practicing the wrong things. I certainly did a lot of years knocking ball after ball at the driving range without too much else in my head!

Fantastic break Marc, it's great when all the hard work pays off. Hope there are a few more to come now you have broken the century barrier.

Yes I started playing as a teen in the mid 60's and
coaches werent something I heard of or were probably
unavailable in Canada at the time. After several years
I got married and had kids and got away from the game
until just a few years ago. There are no coaches in my
city unfortunately and the nearest is a 6 hour drive and
I am not one for driving. I do enjoy the game tho both
playing and of course watching the pros play.
