Ok, so I'll give you the definitive answer to both questions. Potting the black off its spot from the yellow spot without side; yes. Potting the black off the cushion without using side; yes. Both shots are greater than 90 degrees so of course they can be made. 90 degrees is the limit because it is the faintest of glancing blows. Take a set square to a table, line the cue ball and object ball at 90 to the pocket and see if you can pot it. You can't, although in theory it can be done at 90 degrees, practically, hitting the object ball with a touch this faint is impossible. But, change the contact angle (the angle that the cue ball contacts the object ball to hit the middle of the pocket) to 91 degrees and the ball is pottable. We all know the limit of the cut shot because we've played it so many times and it's 90 degrees. However, the black on the cushion is incredibly difficult to pot without side, not least because we have a black shape up against a dark green background. Discerning the edge is much harder than when the black is on its spot. Lecture done.

I believe Jigsaw was talking about cutting the black off its spot by hitting the back cushion first , which is why he said it was impossible

If you look back at the start of the thread, Jigsaw says the black off the cushion behind the black spot. Potting the black off the spot was introduced later. But yeah, it's possible to pot the black off the cushion with side from the brown spot and without side from the yellow/green. Could the black be potted cushion first if the black was on it's spot? Yes, but not into the black pockets? Maybe the middle bag. lol

Well, at no point did I describe that shot... I felt I described the shot we have seen clearly and concisely.

**** Jigsaw... and the series of films he starred in made sense either

Here is the attachment he provided which shows he was talking about BOTH shots being made back cushion first

This thread irritates you because you're wrong.

Do a little maths and work it out for yourself

Sorry here is the attachment where he explained it . This thread is confusing now haha

                      Bigmeek Potr,
Oh is it a wind up. Oh I am sorry...
Neither of you have bothered to read the question correctly.
You have both made up a shot that wasn't in the original question.
The black on the spot was never mentioned. ONLY on the cushion.
That's the problem with forums like this... you forget what the original thread was questioning and make up a scenario that suits you.
Still, your mentality makes me laugh.

                          Master Blaster, Big Meek, Catch22,
                          Thank you.
You have now understood why I said it was impossible, and you agree.

Think Pttr will still disagree. What films was he talking about?
Is the '**** Jigsaw' comment supposed to be scary?

Hi Jigsaw, I'm not seeking an argument but I will say this, it doesn't matter if the ball is behind the black spot on the cushion or on the black spot, it is still potable from the yellow spot with a plain ball shot, no side needed. Again, this is because the contact angle is >90 degree. From the brown spot, the contact angle is <90 degrees, so side is necessary. It would be very difficult to pot the black along the cushion from the yellow spot without side but not impossible. It would require lots of cue ball pace and an ultra fast cloth.
