A question about Fouls

Hi, this is my first time on the forum so hopefully I'm posting in the right section.

My question is this: If after hitting a red ball with the white, the white ball then goes into a pocket off, lets say, the black ball, does my opponent get 4 points for the foul, or 7 points for going in off the black?

Just 4, (if you missed the red and hit the black then it would be 7)
