Bridge question.

I've not been playing long so this may sound like a silly question, but why do players fingers twitch when they are bridging, i.e. move up and down in the middle of their back stroke. It's kind of like a twitch, it looks very odd in my opinion. I was thinking maybe it might be a method of lining shots up, or maybe it's a physical problem?

I've seen Neil robertson do it alot, and today I seen Scott MacKenzie do it on almost every single shot, can anyone shd any light on this?

Nothing clever, I'm afraid. It is just a nervous twitch which many players have.

Dunno. It may be helpful to release tension of your bridge-hand and assure you, you are not putting too much weight on it. On the other hand, it could cause the bridge-hand trembling slightly during the actual shot, which surely leads to disaster.
I have been wondering and experiencing this by myself some time. I tend to say this habit is useful, but only so if your grip on the cloth is not affected.

I've asked the same question a while back to my coach & his answer was:

1. Making sure u're not too tense.
2. Each player has a certain shot rhythm & the tapping with the middle finger helps maintaining that rhythm (if u notice each player has a certain tapping rhythm).

And of course some players don't do it at all...
