Thanks for that video, it took him about a minute to make a break over four.
Well, I'm afraid it took Lawler almost exactly 1 minute to make a break of four (= to pot 3 balls). And this was just a pro-am, so no pressure whatsoever.

Is this really from a pontins match with no judges ?
Both of the videos I linked are Pro-Ams, there are usually no referees there (and I think there are no referees in the PIOS tournaments either).

Alex Higgins made a break of 74 against Ray Reardon in the 70's. When he missed a voice came from the crowd "74, 2 minutes 15 seconds". Ray went to the table, potted a red and quipped "One point, one second". Haha

Of the old timers, Jackie Rea, Cliff Wilson, Warren Simpson were all very speedy with the cue, as was I believe Pat Houlihan.

Fred Davis and Rex Williams were both pretty slow.

Joe Davis was fast. Even the 100 break he made on TV in 1962 only took 6 minutes, which is pretty swift for a 61-year old.

I don't know if you really meant what you said paulthesoave, but nevertheless it was quite a harsh thing to say, as Cliff Thorburn was a great player and gave a lot to his sport.

No, I didn't say it did, but 'the worst champion' is what I was talking about more, and the context he put it in I thought was being a bit unfair.

Does anyone know the record for the quickest frame (Drago?) and quickest century break?

Any videos of these on the internet?

                  There's lots of record's here.

Apparently the fastest frame record is
                  "FASTEST FRAME
3 MINS Tony Drago v Danny Fowler 1988 International (R3)"

                  And for the century -
                  "FASTEST CENTURY
3 MINS 31 SECS Tony Drago v John Higgins 1996 UK Championship (R3)"

Quick as he is, I don't see him making that nowadays!

Are you not sure who these players are, samasnookerfan?
They are two former world champions! Both notorious for their extreme slow play. Thorburn was nicknamed The Grinder for that particular reason.

Speed is no achievment in snooker. It's the points that count
