  • Jimmy White's career

At the risk of sounding like a complete novice snooker fan, has Jimmy White officially retired from the game?

No - he just rarely qualifies anymore. This year his ranking has fallen to the lowest tier on the main tour so he has about 3 qualifying rounds to negotiate before he can reach the final stages of any tournament.

Not easy if you are struggling for confidence and form and used to playing in front of big crowds.

Unless his results improve this year, he will most likely be relegated off the main tour.

That's really sad, aint it? I hope he can find some kind of form and get his face on the tv more often, and I mean on the table, not as a pundit (although that would be second best for his fans, I supppose).

        Thanks for the replies.

Jimmy is playing in the Premier League Billy - if you have Sky Sports it's on Thursday nights 7.30pm except when the tournies are on.

I would love nothing more for Jimmy to play well enough to be on the tour and preferably in the top 16, but I don't see it happening anymore. I think he has lost belief in himself.

I don't have SS, but I have seen the PL snooker when at my sister's and have to say I'm not a fan, particularly of the shot clock. Snooker's fine as it, and despite Murphy's 'bigging up' of the shot clock, and that it should be introduced into the main tour, I'd hate to see it.

              Oh, don't get me started....
