I've seen this too. If we are talking about the same thing it was shown on the bbc during a tournament and is probably on you-tube now. It was very interesting wasnt it. First time i'd heard the advice about the importance of always trying staying high on the black.

Willie's detractors are always keen to point out that the film was edited because he didnt really pot everything all in one go. It was kind of cobbled together to make it look as if he did. If i remember right Steve Davis was with him and mentioned this at the time. Everyone seems to like to take the mick out of poor Willie.

I like Willie he's a great player and person. You know staying high on the black might be the secret of the succes of Hendry and Ronnie-top 147's maders

i know steve lee once made 3 consecutive 147s in practice

stefan mazrocis once made 3 147s in a day in practice

adrian gunnell also made 3 in a day.

sean storey made 2 147s in a 1 day pro-am

I believe there was a guy in Glasgow playing in one of pro-ams at the cue club made 2 back-to-back 147s.

Am not so sure about that, I know he made two in three frames in the cue club one night, one was against the legendary Jules Zonfrillo!

Martins consecutive 147s im refering too would be around 7-8yrs ago, the feat was reported in the snooker mags.

The first official 147 by joe Davis in jan 1955 was actually made from a CRASH break off!

I've never read that anywhere, not that I doubt it. I remember an interview with Ted lowe where he said that on eleven occasions in his career, IN MATCHES Joe Davis broke the pack from the back and did a total clearance.

Obviously on occasion he was probably miles in front of a vastly inferior opponent.

I was more than surprised when i learned Joe's max was made from a crash bang wallop. Makes a mockery of it being official, let alone the 1st official 147


I do remember in a pro-am at ilford in about 1992 Roger Garrett broke off, fluked a red and cleared with 140. Im sure this is the only bona fide total clearance from the break off in competetion.
