I'm working on a way to get tips bang on dead center when retipping a cue!

I've retipping cue's for years now and have had trouble getting the things on dead center every time. Meaning that I have had to take them of again and start from scratch.

I've got an idea, of how this could be done with a little tool.

If I was to get this worked out, and put them on the market what would they be worth?

If a tip from Talisman costs 6 pounds a throw. Then whats a tool worth that gets them on the cue dead center every time?

If you were looking at something to put a tip on that was an exact fit (maybe better with 9 ball cues which CAN BE more or less close to similar specs of ferrule diameter as tips) then it may be worth something....not sure what

If youre meaning for mainly snooker cues then it imagine it wouldnt be of a great deal of use to those who retip regularly, as with most cues coming in different sizes of tips (yes i know 9 ball ones can and do too) then most would find it easier to apply an oversize tip as close to in the centre by eye, and trim down to get a smooth run over with ferrule.

If you are retipping a cue and lets for example say it's a 9mm ferrule!

Like most, you want to put a 10mm tip on this and get it centered up then cut of the remaining over hang. It takes a good eye. If you are useing super glue then you only get one chance. Most tips come a little domed so it helps if the dome center is in the center of the ferrule.

What I have in mind you put the tip on and it's bang on everytime.

If you want a mushroom tip no Problem. Tip on, bang dead center everytime.

This can work on all ferrule sizes and tip sizes. Pool cues, snooker cues you name you get it!

no, i got what you mean. ive been retipping for years too. i find it very easy to position the tip centrally onto the ferrule.

i would probably buy one too, but i doubt id use it, but if it was good id lend it out to folk who dont do lots of retipping but are wanting to do their own cues. (save me doing theirs)

Ive thought about rigging up something to do this, shouldnt be difficult. I guess it depends how much you think you could get it fabricated for.

I've made 1 for myself and it works just great! I just got thinking maybe there is a market out there. I've never made and sold anything before so a little market research would come in handy!

If I wanted to make sure i got a tip on dead centre then I make sure I use araldite or a similar glue that doesn't stick instantly. You need a good eye and a steady hand though to get it bang on central, have never felt the need for a tool or anything to aid me though.

yes i agree or you could use super glue gel this gives you a few seconds to align it right.

The tip clamp tool is something like what I've got here but also different.


what I've got here is a tool to position your tip. Super glue would then be recommended for this would allow for a put on push down finished job. New tip stuck on perfectly in lets under 10 seconds.

It might not be what people are looking for who knows?

It could also made to the right size be used to put on used tips. Also perfect dead center?

I'll keep using mine and see what happens!

And I just noticed you can't put a mushroom tip on with that clamp

Because if you do you'll have to pull the tip of again to get the clamp off

As a snooker 'inventor' myself, (See K-Rest thread.) I'd have to say, look to America. Pool is huge and they buy stuff over there. I happen to believe my invention is great! (And so do a lot of other people.) But snooker players love to say, "Yeah, I see the potential, BUT..." Americans are fer less reserved.

Better still, invent something for golf. Golfers buy anything.

Even better, invent something for golf AND look to America.

Never mind like I said I made this one I'm using, for myself. So theres no lost time.

I like it, it works great.
I don't have to sell these things I was just wondering!
