When two individuals are playing snooker, we know that the referee calls the relevant scores and player's name at the end of each break or after a foul, for example:
"Stephen Hendry, thirty-eight"
or
"Foul, Gerard Greene four"
or
"Foul. Stephen Hendry thirty-eight, Gerard Greene four"
In team events such as the World Cup or Nations Cup, the team name is substituted, for example:
"Scotland, thirty-eight"
or
"Foul, Northern Ireland four"
or
"Foul. Scotland thirty-eight, Northern Ireland four"
HOWEVER, what is the correct call for doubles?
It seems to make sense to call the break for the player who made it ("Steve Davis fifty" or "Tony Meo seventy-nine") but this is not so logical for fouls.
Would one say "Foul, Jimmy White twenty-four, Steve Davis and Tony Meo four"?
I am refereeing our league doubles semi-final tonight and I have always wondered what is the preferred format of the calls.
Nowhere in the rules does it specifically state the referee's score-calls, even for singles.
