  • Correct call for doubles referee

When two individuals are playing snooker, we know that the referee calls the relevant scores and player's name at the end of each break or after a foul, for example:

    "Stephen Hendry, thirty-eight"
    or
    "Foul, Gerard Greene four"
    or
"Foul. Stephen Hendry thirty-eight, Gerard Greene four"

In team events such as the World Cup or Nations Cup, the team name is substituted, for example:

    "Scotland, thirty-eight"
    or
    "Foul, Northern Ireland four"
    or
"Foul. Scotland thirty-eight, Northern Ireland four"

HOWEVER, what is the correct call for doubles?

It seems to make sense to call the break for the player who made it ("Steve Davis fifty" or "Tony Meo seventy-nine") but this is not so logical for fouls.

Would one say "Foul, Jimmy White twenty-four, Steve Davis and Tony Meo four"?

I am refereeing our league doubles semi-final tonight and I have always wondered what is the preferred format of the calls.

Nowhere in the rules does it specifically state the referee's score-calls, even for singles.

I think the name of the player who scored the points would be called in the case of a break and in the instance of a foul, the name of the oncoming player would be called.

I'm not sure but I think it should be like in Tennis so you'd call as follows: "Foul, Jimmy White 49... Messers Davis/Hendry 4". Like I said, I'm not sure but It sounds logical.

I would say 'foul, Stephen Hendry 98, Northern Ireland 4'

in doubles think if i remember right it was the player that made the break gets called for the break.....however to win the highest break price it was a combined break.....

say Davis highest was 123 and Meo made 89 the break of that partnership was 212 and thats how high break prise was worked out......

regarding fouls i tend to remember it was called Higgins 48.....foul "4" Davis and Meo....
