Cheers for the advice! I will do that. Has anyone got any idea what the cue is like?

I am getting it for my birthday and I actually have about £100 to spend now thanks to a few household jobs. I will be looking after it very well; I have been using my dad’s old cue for a while and have been improving quite a bit. I tried that practice technique with the bottle - I will report back on Friday or Saturday when I next go down the club. I have half term coming up so I can practice all week. I hope to get a break of 20 or 30 considering I got 23 in my last half term. Anyway, I think that I am good enough for a new cue. I will be looking for a cue with extension(s) and a case. I have just emailed www.thecuedoctor.co.uk and will tell you if they will have that cue in stock.

Just got the email from www.thecuedoctor.co.uk and he said that they will have them back in stock by the end of June. I must say that he replied very promptly to me - hopefully they get those cues in just as quick.

How much would the cue and extension be on its own - I am not to keen on that tubular case. Should I be getting a 3/4 cue with extension or a 2 piece cue with two extensions?
have you found a cue yet ?

Who makes Barracuda cues now, i thought that they went bust long ago.
The gold medal cue design looks nothing like the old design which i suppose was a little like the cue mark williams uses
Similarly who makes Lewis and Wilson cues? I'm pretty sure they went bust a few years ago too?

If you want to have good speed in snooker, take out a cue with these basic features. 1) weight of the cue should be 17-19 Oz [my cue 19Oz], 2) tip diameter 9mm or 9.5m (again mine is 9mm), 3) before purchasing place it on snooker table and slide conical and check it should not be uplifted from striking side. 4) and in future never keep the cue in standing position with the support of wall when not in use for playing and even don't leave your cue in Car as temperature variations during day and night time effect the cue.

buying a snooker cue

The cues are not bad , Ebony butt's with quite a good ash shaft , for a cheaper cue they are very good to play with , I had Paul Lawence a ex professional snooker player in the shop the other day looking for a new cue and after trying out a number of cues he pick up a 2pc Barracuda Gold Medal out to try and he loved it , I thought he was getting it for someone else but he's been back in the club playing with it , he said the old handmade cue he was using is now under his bed !!!
I goes to prove it's not how much a cue costs but how it feels....
Same goes for Lewis & Wilson ? I'l make some calls ....www.greenbaize.com

I'm a IPA professional pool player , so as you would expect I do stock a lot of 8 ball spec cues .
It might be worth you taking a look , just about all the cues on our site can be made to your spec for no or very little extra cost.
And just like the uk8ball shop we have great service.www.greenbaize.com

it would be interesting how many cue smiths there are out there, or if there is a handful just having cues rebadged for other companies?
