  • Best use of Darren Morgan's talents?

Welsh 'Godfather' Darren Morgan has options. With his smooth as silk Welsh accent, elegant dress sense, relaxed demeanor and all-round professional conduct, he's a unique specimen. Many snooker aficionados consider him to be the best player never to win a Ranking tournament, though the likes of Tony Drago, Mark King and Ali Carter may have something to say about that.

Discreetly disappearing from the professional circuit in 2005 after 17 gliterring years, Morgan has won tournaments on the amateur tour, but there are those who believe he is still good enough to mix it up with the Big boys. Should the reigning European Masters Champion make a return to the main tour or do his talents lie elsewhere?

The Boss - I said this the other day; Morgan's game is good enough to destroy this bunch of Jokers who occupy the "elite" top 16.

The current standard is laughable - surely this years Masters was the worst professional tournament ever played?

Morgan needs to make a come-back; he'd be lifting trophies within a season - possibly even the World Title in 2009.

I'd say not. He'll be 42 in a couple of weeks and its some eight years since he last played at the Crucible, so it would be really tough.

I suppose money is a big factor. If he can afford to play on the tour without having to rely on prize money, then he might fancy a crack at it. It would take him a year or two to get back on the tour anyway, thats if he did well in the challenge tour.

I'm sure BBC Wales are paying him enough

I'd like to see him commentate on all the BBC tournaments. His silky smooth accent is fit for the occassion and he knows his stuff. Him and Clive Everton in the box would be top stuff

Well he is doing an exhibition at one of my local clubs on friday. The fact he dropped off the tour due to his ranking suggests he isn't up to it.

                Morgan avoiding qualifiers

Well he quit three years ago. He probably didn't have the patience for the qualifiers. I can't imagine Morgan wanting to slug it out when he has other things to take of. Drago hates qualifying because of some of the venues. Both have enjoyed success since stepping out the Top 32. Drago with Pool and Morgan with other snooker tournaments. Bosses always find a way to stay in charge

Morgan should return! Once of my earliest snooker watching memories (live one anyway) is being with my Dad one Sunday night at Wembley watching Morgan against Ebdon. The mid session interval wasn't until 10pm and we had to go because I had school to go to the next day:-( I was always a big fan of Darren though, good player and good guy.

There is a big gulf between beating over 40 amateurs and competing with the best the game has to offer. The guy is a class act but the days of him being a threat at the top level are almost certainly gone.
