The app stores up to 50 matches in phone memory. The upload is a single http request and on most pay as you go deals costs about a penny maybe two assuming £3 per mb data rates.

Thanks for the hint. My point however is that I do not want to run this through a mobile phone on a tiny screen but on a laptop conveniently placed next to the snooker table.

I've just returned from another tournie that I live scored and have some ideas for the new features. Will get into it this week and keep you posted.

If you are looking for a solution where you need a large screen for spectators to be able to see as you are playing, then the BallStream solution looks like the right choice for you. It looks to be a great solution for tournaments generally.

My product is more convenient if it is just an ordinary game in a snooker club. The portability of the phone is the key benefit, because you can score for your opponent at the same time as replacing his colours, without having to return to a laptop after each shot to record what happened.

It's also nice not having to worry about the security of your laptop, although that's maybe more of a statement about snooker clubs in the UK...

Best of luck on getting your ideal solution.

I use MySnookerStats on my mobile. Great for keeping score. Agree though that knocking up a spreadsheet to do this sort of thing is easy.
            Cheers

              Progress to date...

Searchable overall, by since date and for comparison to a second player.

                  Snooker Scoreboard

I need a simple scoreboard solution that I can use on a laptop and display on a big screen for exhibitions and tournaments. I do use ballstream but the problem is not all clubs have internet access so it needs to be standalone.

Yeah, internet can be a problem. Of the finals that I have scored this year some had terrible wireless connectivity and during one match the ISP's cable was cut (during the third frame).

So the new version is standalone... with the option of working online. I was planning to use IIS or PWS but have now worked out how to run from any PC... same software will publish an internet scoreboard if internet is available.

The pic above has been updated and shows progress thus far. It should be fully debugged and packaged for distribution in 1-2 weeks from now.

Ranking points can be calculated and no doubt they will vary from place to place. Here we use something like points allotted for wins, frames won, breaks over 40 etc, so if you have such a ranking formula let me know and I can add it as an option.

Also, let me know if you need more info from the performance stats.

                        For sure! Maybe by Xmas.

Snooker and billiards are done... still to update pool and add translations for different countries

                          Ranking formulas

Do you you guys use ranking formulas in pennant and state tournaments?

Here we use such a formula which governs state ranking from which draw seeds and handicaps are worked out. For example 50 points per frame won, points for breaks over 40, points for competing in state ranked tournies etc.

I can include these formulas as an option, so please let me know what yours is and to which area/level that it applies.

                            Ballstream is good.

I also went looking for Snookerer myself, it has gone!

I'm also not interested in mobile phone etc as I have a little netbook running XP that I will take to play snooker for my own personal stat tracking etc and for frame scores against my victims (I mean friendly matches with my mates)

Look, if Ballstream works offline and does all of the long pot attempt, safety success etc just like I see when watching Premier league then I will be happy.

I'm not to fussed about updating it to internet, only if I have a big break maybe!
if you want something done right, do it yourself!

                              Oh!
One other great feature would be if after each match, with all scores done and all stats recorded if it added it to a Player profile for that name.

Then for the next match it updates and you start to build a player performance, head to head records etc.
For me personally, I would like to see graphs showing my improvement or not for the stats over time.

So, you would need a local database on the PC for the user just for personal stats and an online one to update (if they wanted to) to show their online profile.
if you want something done right, do it yourself!

That's already done... create/add the players to your list (even upload photos) and then you select from them when starting a match. Performance for snooker, billiards or pool can all be recorded and analysed separately as needed.

Yes it will use a local database and I plan to create an online option that enables uploading to a central database at any time later.
