What is the best fluke ever??

Hey guys, just thought id ask what you think is the best fluke ever, either you seen or have done yourself???

The best fluke i have done is similar to alan mcmanus's one, black half ball, banged the pot, the black rattles in the jar, jumped onto the cushion, rolled up it and dropped in the middle

Best one i seen has to be Bill Werbenickes -the miscue where he chipped the white from the bulk, it jumped into a red half way down the table and potted it

i would second that one or maybe the alan mcmanus brown along the rail into the middle pocket.

I would cite one of Joe Perry's as a contender for its timing. At 9-9 against Steve Davis in the Crucible first round, in 1999, Perry had led 9-7, only for Davis to level without Perry scoring a point; and Davis opened up a good lead in the decider. Perry was let in and required the clearance to win the frame by 2 points. The only awkward colour was the pink, about 10 inches along the side cushion from one of the corner pockets. He got down to the last red to that same corner, which he missed by some distance – but it caught the pink and found the pocket, not only keeping his clearance on track but also developing the awkward pink into a far more straightforward position, making the clearance a relative formality.

In terms of circumstance and multi-aspect of good fortune, it would be hard to top that one!

most well known must be Cliff Thorburns first red in his 1983 world championship 147!

i must admit, cliff thorburns was very handy indeed, led him on to the crucibles first 147 - if im right, i think john higgins had a fluke on the last but onred on a 147 in the LG cup(tournament could be wrong) - he missed the pot, rattle the jar, the ball flew across and hit the other cushion, but because the knuckle had impacted so much spin on the red, it hithe cushion and checked back straight into the pocket - john higgins completed his 147

From what tournament and year did Big Bill's fluke take place? Just wandered as i may have it somewhere in my collection that's all

I think my own best ever fluke featured two reds, touching each other and a virtual plant being positioned only a few inches from a corner pocket. Ther were directed slightly at one jaw and it was difficult to confirm whether they were dead-set; there was also the green by the jaws of the same pocket. I concluded that hitting them hard would produce an interesting result, although you would have got good odds if you had predicted what actually happened!

I struck the first red full in the face and the two of them had a little argument with the green which tried to guard the pocket. The first red somehow ricocheted off it and rolled along the cushion into the opposite corner, while the second red decided to jump on top of the cushion and go along the rail into the same pocket.

They did it virtually at the same speed, so we saw two reds, one on top of the cushion and the other against it, rolling in unison and dropping almost simultaneously into an unintended pocket!

I once had a marvellous non-pot fluke, if you like, in which I had the extended spider to bridge awkwardly over the pack towards the black spot. The cue-ball rebounded off the top cushion and split the pack and I had no chance of getting the spider out of the way – luckily the one red that came straight towards me managed to go through the spider, right between its legs without touching either of them!

My best fluke has to be when I was practising on my own. So, no-one else was there to confirm it!

I had a decent angle to play off the black and splitt a pack of about 10 reds. Played the shot and the black jawed and hung over the pocket - meanwhile one of the reds travelled out of the pack and up the table between yellow and brown and then back down where it cannoned another red which knocked the black in and left a nice red for my next shot!

My best fluke is: I tried to pot the red i black's right corner ut missed. the red bounched to the middlepocket and missed again but then the red came back to the black's corner again ( the corner I missed the first time) but this time the red ball was potted. I don't think anone has done this kind of shot because it was spectacular. The thing that disturbs me is that I didn't recordet it

i have a friend who plays those all the time and calmly claims he played for it.

The only red I ever potted in the history of ever was over the upper left pocket; the white was next to the green pocket and I was only trying to make contact with the red. I will never know what happened or how I struck it, because the cue ball rolled nicely along the cushion, knocked the red in and finished conveniently on a colour.
Which I missed by a mile. So my only chance to make a break was shattered to pieces.
