Yes, Joe Davis made the first century snooker break on television. There is a video on YouTube. Joe was playing against John Pulman and when he potted the blue to get to 100, the commentator Ted Lowe said "And now we have a century on television".
Now i knew Jonathan was a great player in his time. ( little bit of history for you Bongo young fella) but was not aware of this "fact" unless they have got it wrong????
Its not how well you play its how good you look playing that counts!
First to make a maximum, I think it was Willie Smith.
I believe the first officially recognised maximum was made by Joe Davis. He was playing Willie Smith in London, 1955.
I think there were a few 147's made prior to that, however not officially recognised.
