Aramith Tournament Champion Snooker balls. Depending on where you purchase them from, you can get a new genuine set in prices between £85 and £125. Well worth the buy and by far the cheapest in the 'long run'.
Have a look at www.aramith.com.

Snooker balls should be replaced after 5 years of club use as a guide. And two cue balls should be used. One cue ball then after 2 and a half years or so, use a different one. Just as a guide though.

How about using a self made polisher, a plastic bucket with a car polisher on the bottom of bucket, glue some carpet on the sides of bucket to prevent scratches, throw in 5-6 balls, add some car wax and turn the polisher on for 2-3 mins. I have seen that on youtube and gave it a try. The balls came out really shiny, just wiped them with a clean dry cloth. Does anyone know if it could damage the balls because of the wax or the spinning?

Ball Cleaning.
Can any of us try to come up with a better/quicker method or device to clean the balls ready to play? I have got to the stage now where i am alot more eager to play if i know that the balls have been polished(except the cueball). The ball response you get from a freshly cleaned set makes it much more enjoyable. I would like to devise something that firstly cleans them and then polishes them ready for play.
I regularly clean our tables at our club prior to matches and don't always have enough time to clean the balls before people start to arrive ready for a practise. I think that this would be a very interesting challenge for us, unless one of you out there already managed this! (EXCLUDING THE ORBITAL SANDER IN BUCKET OPTION!).:snooker: :snooker: :snooker:Cheap and Cheerful! 😄

I think this is a good question ... last Xmas I treated myself to a set of Aramith Tournament Champions - £89 from www.CraftsmanCues.com ...
And nice balls they are too even though I'm only a beginner so I probably can't truly appreciate them ... but certainly much better than the average balls at Riley's Staines where I play ...
I've washed them once so far (in hot soapy water) and they are generally still pretty shiny (we play 3 or 4 frames once a week) ... but certainly you can see the "burn" marks particularly on the black, brown and blue ...
I think Saluc say burn marks are inevitable cos when one ball hits another, the contact temperature can reach something stupid like 1000c or more for a brief moment ...
now 1000c is enough to set fire to a lot of materials but fortunately not Aramith snooker balls ... and to save Noel the trouble I'll do the obvious posting ... someone once sang about the problems with snooker balls ...

This is a Winner!!!
After months and months of experimenting with different cleaning products i can safetly say that the best thing to clean Aramith Tournament Champion sets is Cif Bathroom cleaner. In essence its a degreaser which is very easy to rinse afterwards leaving no residue or fine unwanted layers of chemicals.
I used a soapy solution once and after rinsing it many times, it still left some sort of layer on the balls and the effects of that were kick after kick after kick.
I only ever clean/polish the cueball with Aramith ball Cleaner, merely as a money saving process(after cleaning).
Since using Cif the Ball sets even seem to have regained their original sparkle without the use of polish. So its just a bit of Cif, thouroughly rinsed and finally buffed with a microfibre cloth of some sort! I can honestly say that it has greatly reduced the amount of kicks to almost nil.
TRY IT AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK???Cheap and Cheerful! 😄
