  • What is a long pot ?

Off cause a silly question, but how far shall the white ball be away from the object ball to be called a long ball, when television calculates long ball potting succesrate ?

Rolf Kalb, Eurosport Germany, said at least half the lenght of the table (a lot of people didn´t know that, that´s why they asked him)

think so, too. I guess it doesn´t matter which ball it is that has to go the long way.

For the purposes of the BBC statistics John Virgo (or is it Dennis Taylor? I can't remember) often says that a long pot is defined as 'six feet or more between cueball and object ball'. Distance between object ball and pocket apparently doesn't come into it.

Personally I don't think that makes much sense, but (if you believe Virgo/Taylor), that's what it is. Granted, it's quite hard to come up with such a simple definition that's any better.

              1,8288 m to be precise.

Feeling incredibly clever with my calculator at hand.

cheater I had it in my mind! so I´m quite right with half the length of the table but I always thought both ways can be called long pot . Anyway, as long as the ball is potted by the right person I´m happy

May be even less than half table because the diaogonal of the half table is longer than 6 feet.

There is a reason why snooker on telly is so easy.

The table is only about 2 feet in length - I think I would pot most balls in that distance!!

                          Depends how im playin,

If im playing well anything over the 6 feet mark is long.

If am playing poor then anything over 12 inches is long.

It generally depends on how much beer the player has quaffed. For Bill Werbernuik every shot was a long pot.
