For the purposes of the BBC statistics John Virgo (or is it Dennis Taylor? I can't remember) often says that a long pot is defined as 'six feet or more between cueball and object ball'. Distance between object ball and pocket apparently doesn't come into it.
Personally I don't think that makes much sense, but (if you believe Virgo/Taylor), that's what it is. Granted, it's quite hard to come up with such a simple definition that's any better.

1,8288 m to be precise.
Feeling incredibly clever with my calculator at hand.Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman
