Tip cement is used to bind the cue tip to the ferrule. Youll need it (or some form of glue sutiable for cue tips) if you plan to retip cues yourself.

Sincere appa-loagies Kick, missed this thread.... SD's right that you'll need it, it's something that I've managed to avoid buying though as it seems always to be included in a kit that there's options to buy the tip shaper, or the clamp without the cement as though it's not worth using.

I'm guessing it isn't a superglue variety, you'd have to get a clamp and leave it overnight. But if you've the time and can find a way to stop a slow acting glue allowing the tip in the clamp to slide off a bit, you could try something other than superglue.... epoxy resin's the way and you can get some that work 'faster than in a few hours' type.

For me, superglue gel'ss the best, it allows you to glue the tip on quickly and unlike bog-standard superglue, it gives you a moment to manoeuvre it into place; especially as the tip'll probably be slightly large than the ferrule you're putting it on.

I've managed to avoid the glue getting brittle and cracking off after only a few shots by adding a layer inbetween the tip and ferrule so the glue has something to absorb into. On a regular basis when I used to use either superglue or the gel, the first few impacts would crack the glue and only after ripping it off and putting it back on, would it stay on for good..... it would leave a fibrous residue on the ferrule that allowed the tip to grip onto the normally very flat and non-absorbent wood/brass ferrule.

Hope you had some success with the irn-man practice session, giving yourself some targets and an atmosphere of competitiveness really helps your game... I used a trick over the weekend that was just to wear an extra t-shirt so that my body temperature kept quite high and kept the adrenaline gushing; did very well in the tournament.... so it MUST work!!!! ho ho ho, although something's happening recently that I can't stop scoring, when really in League matches I only ever concentrate on getting the point for the team not risking a few shots to keep a break going and in Doubles say, you don't get that many chances and there's a different sort of pressure.

Anyway Kick, get some gel and you'll rock. Look for my post on my 'wafer technology' if you're interested.
