8 pool ball in hand/scratch

i have a question about 8 pool rules

i know that when you comint a foul the opponet has the right to take the "ball in hand" and place it anywhere on the the table
i also know that when u break and if white goes in(scratch)...the white will be placed before the D line

but what if u pot the white in the middle of the game?

is it a scratch or a foul?

i've looked in the official rules but cand find the aswer to this anywhere

depends what version of the rules you play.

could be ball in hand, behind the line or in the d.

It could also be two shots. Again dependent on the version of rules.

Tends to be one shot ball in hand (anywhere) and two behind the D line but as my freind said rules can be different.

surely a scratch is just the American term for an in-off (so is a foul) ... just as Americans say a bank shot when we my side of the pond would call it a double ...

I'm not an expert on all the various rules that govern 8-ball pool (and there are many as other posters have mentioned) but I thought the only real difference with the break-off as compared with later in the game was if you pot the black on the break-off, it's a re-rack rather than loss of game ...

As i understand it a scratch is a foul if you know what i mean.

i think they are the best..and ball in hand always makes a game more interesting with no intentional fouls and so on.

actually i should play with the 2 shot rule..cause i play on an english pool table and the pockets are as on snooker table. Love this kind of table because it's harder to play on it and when u go on a normal table all shots seem to very easy
