  • Anthony & Paul Davies?

This is just a random question; I was looking my old LG Electronics Tour guide magazine from 2004 & was looking at the players outside the top 16 section and saw that Anthony & Paul Davies lived in the same area of Barry, South Wales

I was just wondering are they related in a way & are they the current siblings on the snooker circuit? Although I haven't seen Anthony play now for a few years & only just recentley Paul play in the Grand Prix & UK Championship in 07,

if anyone can provide an anwser, would be a great help & also thank you in advance for the info

Paul Davies grew up here in Bournemouth (well, nearby Fordingbridge) and was the first player to make a century in my local league - way back in 1986-87 just before he turned pro. He then moved Wales way.

So I'm pretty sure he's no relation to Anthony.

The most recent sibling pairing that springs to mind is Mark Johnston-Allen, whose brother Criag was on the pro circuit for a couple of seasons in the early 90s - but never had any memorable results to my knowledge.

Cool; Thanks for that Statman, that is really interesting to know, I never knew about the Johnston-Allens, that's quite a good fact, hope we get more siblings in snooker in the coming years

The Fernandez brothers (forgotten the name of the brother of Leo) also played on the tour although they do sound like a Mexican trapeze act from the circus.

I have it on fairly good account that Jack has become dis-illusioned with snooker and is looking to make it big in the golfing world. 16 and disillusioned with the game? Very sad if true.

Jack Trump is a very good golfer and gave up playing much snooker after a serious illness a couple of years ago.

Paul and Anthony are NOT related in any way

Leo's brother is Mario Fernandez who is top of the Irish rankings at the moment so could be on course for a return to the tour.

Reanne's brother is a tidy player, good league standard and a century break maker. It was through her mum and brother that she took up the game.

We used to have a couple of mother/daughter combinations of the ladies circuit: Helen and Sheron (mum) Aldus. Connie Gough and Julie Hemingway,
Maureen Baynton and daughter, who's name I 've forgotten for the moment.

Peter Lines son Oliver is following in dad's footsteps and is a very handy young junior now.

a third pro member of the Francisco family dynasty is Mannie Francisco.

Probably the most current and likely to be in the pro ranks at the same time in the future would be Stephen Craigie and younger brother Sam, who is rapidly progressing through the junior scene at the moment.

In the recent Bahrain tournament we saw one of the Aseeri TWINS as a wildard. I can't off hand think of other sets of twins but I'm sure someone else can.

Incidentally Craig Johnston-Allen, the last time I heard, is now a Baker. Mark pops up every now and again as an MC at tournaments and father Dave, of Cheddar Classics fame, is now living and working in Thailand.
