Clear-Up



I was left with this situation last week that I managed to clear the table with 48; without a fluke - can anyone see a way to start the break?

(it was on a snooker table, though I can't find a Wei Table for our beloved sport; in this depictionn, the colours are on the spot and those 3 balls near the pink (ish) are reds)

The ball closest to the black is on i guess.So you must have gone for a pot cum saftey and ended in a pot.Then pot the blue and cannoned the pink -reds.Then got the red in the long pocket(left side of the black)pink in centre, again red in same long,black and then the colours am i correct.The break is 48.

Partially Correct.

The colours are right, but not the first red; the bottom one cuts too thinly for the corner pocket.

Have another go. (I was playing off handicaps and 40 behind at the time; 60 is always a 'challenge'! It's a full size table too)

The bottom one??? You mean the one on the blue side??? Its an opposite cut.If u understand my english.

I was describing it as though we were looking at it as it would appear on the TV; black spot to the bottom and baulk colours to the top of the TV screen.

I think i got it.You muct have hit the 1st red ball(closest to the pink),then either the 2nd red must have gone into the long pocket or the other (3rd red) must have gone into the opposite long pocket(black pocket upwards considering the pic).

I've just mocked up the solution as a jpg to post, but if I give a clue first, then I'll wait to publish the solution until after the Liverpool/Chelsea game we're watching tonight... soon.

(never heard the phrase 'long pocket' before... still learning!)

I dont believe it that you have never heard long pocket.It means the pocket at the long end of the table.Like "centre pocket"??

Grabbing the red eh... I know you're in India my friend, but have you been sneaking a look at John Virgo's trickshots? (The one where he says that the shot ends with a kiss on the black and it goes straight in the pocket... yup you've guessed it; he takes it off the table, brings it to his lips and lays a smacker on it before dropping it in his trouser pocket -- ho ho)
