  • Arrogant player from about 3 seasons ago ??

I have a complete mental block on a player's name from about 3 seasons ago. He beat a couple of big players, Hendry and (I think) White, but what I remember most was the arrogance he displayed after his wins. I can see him now, on the left hand side of the two-table split, goading the crowd after his win against one of the big names. Smarmy is another word I'd use to describe him and just couldn't take to him. If it helps with the ident, I can say that I don't think I've not seen him around for a while. Anyone any idea who I'm talking about?

No. Much older than mark. Maybe mid to late twenties.

think something happened with him and ken doherty a while ago concerning arrogance, and swearing which ken said a player shouldnt do and i think he had a go at ken verbally. or something to that effect

Mark was warned by the referee in that game for banging his hand on the table - How often do we see Ronnie, Stephen, Mark W, JP and many others do that and nothing happens. I'm not excusing it, but I think the ref would never have done it to ROS. Mark swore at the ref - he was only about 19 at the time. Ken complained about that, and actually Mark apologised to Ken later.

Aside from that, he is blemish free, a fluent player who is a decent chap.

The thing that annoys me about him is the army of fans he brings to matchs and the constant shouting.

He did at the time, but has since been more complimentary - the following year Mark beat Ken at the WC and Ken complimented his performance. Ken had just got beat and knocked out of the GP group stages - at a time when he was provisionally near no.1 in the world and clearly he was upset.
I like Ken, but I actually think Ken overreacted a lot - disgrace to the game is a bit much for something quite minor.

What about Ronnie's fans cheering - they were very poor at the PL. I personally think that it is better to have an army of fans than not.

That annoys me even more especially when you see idiots at the PL who clealry have never been to a snooker match shouting all the time following like sheep.

Hearing the O'Sullivan fans scream on the other side of the partition during the Dott-Williams match was quite annoying too. As if he made a maximum in each frame...
