First cue

Yeah i am getting a cue for xmas altho i am selecting it.It is my 1st cue so i will probably be getting it from a a sports shop and my budget is about £40-£60. I know it wont be anything compared to the high quality cues you are describing but everyone has to start somewhere.

I was just wonderin whether you could give me any advice on what i should be loooking for in a potential cue.Anyhelp woud be much appreciated.

If only it was as easy as looking at a cue, especially with your budget and knowing how it will play. Stick to looking at cues that have the grain running from the butt end to the tip, many cheap cues in sports shops or catalogues are made up of two pieces of wood so try and avoid that if you can. So check the grain matches up, especially on centre jointed cues, probably better to look at 3/4 jointed cues.

Ask supacues or greenbaize members on here, they both have websites and sell cues and will probably be able to find you a better quality cue than you will find in the local shops and give you advice on what to look for.
