  • Tips for a Newbee

Hi all, Incase you missd my welcome thread I'm Chris...and New to this forum. Apologies if this is a repeat thread i'm sure you've seen tons of these but here it goes...

I have been playing snooker for a bit but only after golf and never really that serious. But I would like to spend a bit more time playing and possibly play in some competitions.

I have had a couple of breaks in the mid 30s without ever really practicing atal.

My GF was kind enough to get me a nice Riley Cue as part of my Christmas present...it's cheap and cheerful but it feels nicer than any other cues I have used before.

A mate who plays a lot in the local area and has several UK University titles reckons I should play in the upcoming Local Open but I am unsure because I will probably get a drubbing lol.

I play mostly at my local golf club who have a team that consists of mostly older guys but would like to play more and maybe get some league matches in!

Anyways to the point of the thread...Have you any tips...Maybe about my Cue? Should I be changing the standard (very hard) tip or maybe some advice on how you got to be competitive in local events or made your way onto the local team?

    Thanks!

In terms of practicing etc.. PM me I do a bit of coaching and can help other than that id recommend scrolling through the coaching side of this forum youll find plenty of great posts on there.

As for your question regarding tips the answer is yes. The standard hard tips are awful and your game will definately improve with a new tip which should be changed if your lucky by someone in your local hall...some charge..some dont.

    Enjoy your snooker.

blue diamond is my prefernce but thats all it is...a preference.

Go to youtube and type in UNDERSTANDING MODERN SNOOKER WITH JACK KARNEHM. Its not very modern but I even watch it from time2time as a refresher. I hope youll benefit and am sure you will. Try PM'ing me when you have.
