Off topic there but it's something I feel strongly about. I don't smoke cigarettes myself but enjoy cigars. It would be nice to have one while playing now and then. If you enjoy it and it puts you in a good mood then you may play better, much like the thread about drinking I started a few days ago. Same concept.

I do not agree Paulie. I feel that it's absolutely okay that in these halls it is not allowed to smoke. if people feel that it's necessary to take a cig they can get outside. but people who do not smoke, what can they do? nothing. so it's really the right way now. big halls by the way could divide their halls with walls and doors and make a smoker and a non smoker area (here at least they could) but only if the non smoking area is not affected by the smoke at all.

I am very happy the way it is, it is a big relief since 1. January not to play in that awful smelling smoke.

I agree with yout there Phil. I used to play in a large snooker hall of 20+ tables and at the time i was a smoker and have to say the atmosphere was too smokey for me.

I think it is far better now smoking is banned.

Personally, 2 years on the smoking wagon and i can say giving up is the best thing i've ever done. Incidently, i was a 20 a day smoker for 14 years.

I go into a snooker hall to play snooker, not to smoke tabs. that said, i can see both sides of the story that a non smoker shouldn't have to put up with other peoples smoke but why should a smoker have to go outside for a smoke when he/she is paying good money to be a club member?

To put this into perspective, do you have any practice routines that you practice consistently like the line up? If you do, measure how you get on now against before you gave up. My answer would be a definte No as long as you don't let it.

                Keep hitting them, well.

i never thought about quit smoking, and you guys know that 1/3 of the smoker is from china, and astonishingly, chinese don't feel smoking can affect your health as what media publicised,
i have been through a difficult time myself, and cigarette is the best soulmate of mine, maybe when i settle down,i will think about quite smoking.
Last , i think second hand smoking is not so harmful,

Hi everyone i quit smoking over 4 years ago with no regrets whatsoever. I personally can't say i noticed anything different really apart from the torment of having to sit down for 5 mins while my mates go out for a quick fag! that really does my head in! So i suppose if you're not constantly having to go out for a smoke, then that must suggest that you are fully concentrated on the game while they won't be. Result!!! ha ha ha.:snooker: :snooker: :snooker:
                    Cheap and Cheerful! 😄

I liked the new word "Smirting".

                      (From wiki)
Smirting describes the social pastime of smokers flirting outside of public places (e.g. pub, public houses, cafes and restaurants) in which smoking is forbidden or illegal —the term for the activity being a portmanteau of the words smoking and flirting.

Smirting is an especially common phenomenon in societies that have strictly enforced regulations banning the smoking of tobacco in public places (e.g., UK, Ireland, California, New York City, New Zealand, etc). The term is thought to have originated in the Republic of Ireland sometime after March 29, 2004 (when tough legislation banning smoking in public places came into effect there).

With widespread media coverage of the trend, the phenomenon has since become something of a humorous cult activity in many parts of the world.

The term 'Passive Smirting' can also be associated with the pastime for those who stand outside with friends or colleagues but do not actually smoke themselves.

My point is a bit vague but I think the government do all this banning on advertising and smoking and dont go the whole hog and ban cigs because without the tax from the cigs we would not be able to fund our health service properly anyway...
an old story that is not really true. the costs in the health system because of smoking are much bigger than any funding for whatever social program (it's different from country to country).

here there is no question smoking is good for everyone else - they contribute plenty to the coffers through tax and then have the decency to die early and save us on pensions etc aswell.

everybody should be allowed to live how they please, what next we ban wine, biscuits, ski-ing, cars - where do we draw the line with the nanny state.

I dont have any problem doing the line up as long as I am warmed up. If someone keeps smoking next to me, I would probably miss more, because the smoke would bother me.
