Yes Michael that's my picture on the website. And you know Keith, that's so funny, small world. Yes he did bring an Osborne & Hunt back with him, it's nicer than my Kevin Deroo. I don't know Lu, but I don't go to TOP147 too often since it's quite far from my house. But I've been planning to start going again, I really like the tables there, and there's a good group of younger players out there.

CTquick147, great! There ARE some good yonge players out there in Richmond. And I think you can go there easily by skytrain. Lu is a good player. He told me he'll go to Top147 more often these days too. When the weather gets nicer, I might go back to Van and visit. Hopefully, we can get together and have some games.

I'd love to get together for a session some time, I always enjoy meeting people with a passion for the game. I'm going to try to get out to TOP147 nthis week-end. I've been practicing with some really first rate amateurs lately, I met a fellow named Steve Delissick who's been showing me some things. I haven't been tested by an opponent like this in a while, it's a bit frustrating because as of late my long pots( usually my greatest strength) have been awful, but my positional play (usually my weakness) is better than ever. How strange. Anyway give me a heads-up if you're going to be in town, we'll have a good session I'm sure.sigpic

Hi CT! I'm in Vancouver and a massive snooker fan. I have played Tommy Lee, Cliff, and the old guard from Highlight when it was around in Burnaby. I also played in my early years (2000) with Jaz, Andrew, Bill (the greek), Dale, Eddie, and others that played at CueZone on 6th street in Burnaby.
Over the years, my interest in the game has dropped off but I still watch the major tourneys each year through a friend that makes the DVDs.
Would love to get back into the game and get a new cue as well (thus why I sent you a PM).
After reading your post here and the replies, I have setup a Facebook group. Perhaps you can join and get others there too and it can be a holding place to meetup with players. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=46055028748Mayur Jobanputra, Snooker Coach and Snooker Enthusiast

You've played the greats, that's awesome. I never played at CueZone myself. I usually play out near Lougheed station at the village pub. But from time to time I'll go to TOP147 in Richmond. The facebook idea is a good one, I deleted my account on ther a while ago but I may set up a new one now just so I can join your group. I sent you a PM as well, just to give my thoughts on buying a Parris cue. I was ready to buy one at one time as well, but hopefully my extensive research into the subject will prove of some use for you.
Also, do you have the link so you can watch the masters final? It starts in less than an hour, 3:00AM our time.

I live downtown toronto and my bud lives in north york, can anyone tell me where the best places to play are in the GTA? The only place I know if Annex billiards near bathurst and bloor which is fine, but the tables aren't great and there isn't much room etc.
Thanks,

Just curious.
- Highest break - low thirties.
- I'm 55.
- I'm currently using a Riley cue. Had to buy something to replace the old one piece billiards cue that came out of storage with the ability to shoot round corners. Riley was all I could get ahold of where I live. I don't mind the Riley since I took all the varnish off the shaft. But I'm in the market for an English-made cue - problem with them is the shipping costs are a crime.
- I've played Len Homenchuck, he plays in the same league as I do.
For the guys that live in the Vancouver area, Cliff Thorburn is supposed to be coming out here to do an exhibition. If anyone's interested in attending, when the league gets the date sorted out, I'll let you know when the exhibition will be.

CT:
I didn't catch your post when I joined. I live in Alma, ON (north of Guelph) and have a BCE Westbury in my house (I'm a certified IBSF Master Coach). My high break is 147 (x3) in practice and 138 in a match.
I played in the UK as an amateur in the late 80's and I've played every one of the top pros of today and yesterday except Steve Davis, Jimmy White and Alex Higgins. I played Hendry before he turned pro, when he was the Scottish Amateur Champion.
I played Ronnie O'Sullivan when he was something like 13 years old in a pro-am in London, the Ilford Snooker Centre I believe.
The only big scalp I can claim is I managed to beat Dave Harold to win a tournament in Wales somewhere around 1987 I think.
I use an Aurora Cue right now, made right in Vancouver

At one time when he played in England he was ranked 9th in the World. By the way he has 123 perfect 147 snooker games. The best player i ever saw was Steve Davis when he played in the 1980 at the Canadian Masters Snooker Tournamnt in Toronto Ontario at the C.b.C STUDIOS that is when snooker was live in Canada. What is the joint made of?
I had a Brunswick trophy but it only says Brunswick trophy in gold letters on the butt. I believe the older ones actually shows the little Brunsiwck man holding a cue on the butt, and some show a trophy, is that right? Never seen those ones though.Last edited by poolqjunkie; 2 January 2010, 10:08 PM.

I play at the Burnside snooker club in Dartmouth NS. I play about once a week
at a cost of $5.00 for the whole afternoon. A month or so ago I made a 40
break. I played in High school in the 60s and started again casually in the 90s.
A couple of years ago I bought a Master 147 from Greenbaize in the UK. Once
in a while I play Ken Shea who was a frequent Maritime champion. He's 75 now
but can still play very well.
