  • Own Cue

    Hi

    I'm playing snooker for about 2 years, but my average break is still in the single digits.

    I'm thinking about buying a cue but I'm not sure if I shouldn't wait until I play better.

    What cue would you recommend as a beginners cue?

    Thanks, Stefan

    there's no real thing as a beginners cue as such, If i were you i would try as many different cues as i could, different lengths, tip sizes and weights and find out which you prefer and then go out and buy a cue that fits that criteria.good luck

      you should practise on your qball control to have a bigger run. my practise regimin(sp) consist of one hour of top, bottom and stun. you need to know these shots to improve your game

          thanks for the answers

          @robsonj

          There aren't any billard shops in the proximity I know of.
          So I don't think I'm able to test cues.
          But aren't there some cues around -like with tennis rackets - which a good all round cues?

          @ADR147
          Well let's say that I'm playing once a week for one year now. But when I'm playing, I only play frames.

              >What would you like to spend?

              I didn't spend much time investigating the prices of cues.
              Are there really big differences between normal cues?
              I thought they cost about 50$ - 300$.

              So I thought I'll spend about 200$.

                200USD?
                That's about £140 odd
                Something like a Craftsman 147 cue I'd say would be good.

                Or see what ADR147 can get thats goos.
                Have you any idea of what spec you want?

                  I have no idea about specification, s.a. cue-length (I assume this is proportional to body height), tip size, and similar things.

                  Aren't there good all round cues around?

                      If you aren't really tall or really short you could go for something in the middle.

                      57-58"
                      18ish oz
                      9.5mm tip

                      Balance and butt size you will probably get used to what you get.
