  • Round 125 - Clear it up

Gordon had enough of making 9 breaks and 18 breaks and 27 breaks, so tonight he knocked in a cool total clearance - that's 15 reds, a colour with each red and then all the colours.

He scored more points in total from pinks than from blacks but not as many as he scored from yellows, nor as many as he scored from greens, come to that. Mind you, the number of points he scored in total from yellows and greens combined was the same as he scored from browns and blues combined.

    What was his break?

    • 15 REDS, 6 WITH YELLOWS, 4 WITH GREENS, 4 WITH BLUES AND 1 WITH A PINK. THEN ALL THE COLOURS = 92

      • Gordon has massively surpassed his previous highest of 27 with a break of 92. It is made up as follows:

        6 Reds with Yellows
        4 Reds with Greens
        4 Reds with Blues
        1 Red with Pink
Yellow, Green, Brown, Blue, Pink, Black

        • Congratulations chasmmi, Parklife Ricky and snookersfun (who answered by Private Message)! 92 is the correct answer!

          • Here's a funny thing that happened the other night.

Davis_greatest couldn't make his regular snooker session with his pet gorilla Frances, so he asked me to step into the breach. I met Frances at the snooker club, and after he had signed me in, we decided to play 36 frames, but with strange rules. In frame 1 only a yellow could be potted after a red, in frame 2 only a green could follow a red, in frame 3, the brown, in frame 4 the blue, in frame 5 the pink and in frame 6 the black. We then went back to the beginning with the yellow in frame 7 and carried on like that all night.

Anyway, the strangeness of the night didn't end there. Frances potted the first red in every single frame, and in each frame he potted one more ball than the frame before. There were no foul shots at any point in any of the frames, and when Frances missed, I cleared the table, even when I needed snookers (meaning the black was potted last in every single frame).

Who won overall and by what score?
            Who scored the most centuries?
What was the overall points score at the end of the 36th frame?

And for a bonus point, what did Frances have as a snack between frames 18 and 19 when we had a break? Answers in the usual format please

            Ta

            • Congratulations Rambon

You defeated a gorilla by 20 frames to 16 (although your victory may have been overshadowed by Frances rallying with 16 consecutive frames at the end, capping the evening's entertainment with a maximum).

Frances also out-tonned you, recording 5 centuries to your 3.

Wasn't sure what you wanted for the overall points score: in total 3882 points were amassed; didn't know if you needed the points scored by each player.

d_g has multiple gorillas, Frances is one he keeps hidden from public view apart from one weekly snooker night. Nothing of any interest has ever happened on one of their snooker nights, hence you not hearing of him/her/it before....

Some of the answer is correct, some of the answer is incorrect, in addition, I would like the breakdown in points between each player if you don't mind....

                          • Can't work out which parts of the above are incorrect: fairly sure that you win the first 20 frames, and Frances the remaining 16.
You make 3 century breaks, in the 4th, 5th and 6th frames (respectively, with 13red/browns +colours, 12 red/pinks + colours and 12 red/blacks + colours), and Frances makes 5, in the 30th frames (15 reds and blacks) and the 'maximums' constructed with Browns (102) Blues (117) Pinks (132) and Blacks (147) in the 33rd to 36th frames.

                            The total points score:

                            36 x 27 + (36 x 15) + 85 Yellows (170), 90 Greens (270), 85 Browns (340), 90 Blues (450) 85 Pinks (510) and 90 Blacks (630) = 3882.

Of these, Frances just has the mastery, outscoring you 1947 to 1935

Unfortunately not, Frances loves creme brulée, but davis_greatest discovered he/she/it has a mild allergy to it and therefore has to avoid it at all costs.

You won't be surprised to find out that bananas were involved

It goes a little awry in the second half, particularly think about the break in frame 33, but your break in frame 34 is also wrong....
