Deano82 believes otherwise.... (and why should 126 be highest achievable? It is possible to place a ball in more than 3 Lines)

          • Unfortunately, this time I have set a round for which it is very difficult for me to check some of the answers - it's hard to count all the Lines and see whether the balls are always in a straight line!

Please put up pictures for these, abextra!

Well, I didn't get all that far through counting this, but I didn't seem to get to 133 (actually, I seemed to be well short of 100). Can you list the Lines adding to 133?

And this one please Before I try to add them all up, does each Line consist of balls in a straight line?

              • Here is my arrangement, 15 Lines of 3 balls each, should work for both rounds.
                (I'm a bit confused too... )

well short of 100? Indeed! Just reread the question now, having me doubting myself.

Anyway here are the lines, only questionable line might be the left one connecting the 2 clusters (but I feel this can be tweaked rotating these two clusters and if not I could stick ball as in 2nd pic for the 133, which is arguably nicer). Hope this won't turn out to be another big blunder now.

let's wait for the verdict on that first piece of art... but, yeah, surely they were meant to be straight lines...

                  • R. 302 another one witout connecting clusters again (which might not be possible trying to draw a bit more accurately), so 244 only

(and P.S. the white balls in the previous round's pic where supposed to be red balls, if that was the problem in reaching above 100)

                    • Great pictures, Snookersfun!
The second one for 133 and 244 seem to work perfectly! Very well done!

                      • As you are the expert on here, I like to have a go once in a while (cannot promise anything due to media commitment and short of time therefore). What is the crescendo of it all?

                        • Thanks abextra and R_Demarco

expert is good(although reading back you might notice those apes and their pet-thing) and joining us and doing some puzzles once in a while is even better So, welcome!
Maybe this is a good time to bring up that R.299 is still open.

Crescendo on the last one? Could probably still go higher, but we are all lazy?

                          right, back to 245 now:

                          • Rounds 301 & 302 are now closed (unless anyone wants to add one last picture within the next hour ).

It seems that snookersfun had the highest final bids - well done - but congratulations to all... especially abextra and snookersfun for some great pictures and arrangements, Monique for the nice and neat opening arrangement; and also to Lee Vilenski for the arrangement without a bid and Deano82 for the bid without an arrangement.

Another one, round 303, which I think should be a bit easier, follows below. Bids & pictures or descriptions straight on the thread please. Round 303 will close at midnight UK time tonight!

Round 303 - Nice and orderly

OK, another set of 15 reds and the 6 colours to place on the table. This time, each ball gets a value equal to the number of other balls it is touching.

                            For example, a red touching 3 other balls would score 1 x 3 = 3.
                            A brown touching 2 balls would score 4 x 2 = 8.
                            A pink touching no balls would score 6 x 0 = 0.

Add up the scores from all 21 balls for your final score. Bids, with pictures or descriptions of the arrangement, for the highest final score are invited on the thread...
