Two bids of 218 are fine! As you've both made the bids, it doesn't matter which order the pics are put up. The sooner the better, as only just over 3 hours to go till the deadline.

218 is a very good bid - it can be beaten though!

      • Nice picture Deano82 218 it is, indeed.

Incidentally, for anyone else, there is no need for pretty pictures here - using "X"s or even a description of the arrangement in words will be good enough, if you prefer. And any advance on the 218?

          • Yes, abextra. A nice picture from you too, and it is indeed 218.

So, congratulations to Deano82 and abextra!

But... any advance? Just one ball needs to be moved from Deano82's picture to get a higher score. But which one, and where?

Yes, congratulations abextra! 220 is good enough! And a very neat picture too

It's a hexagon using 19 balls, with the last 2 reds then added along the middle of one the edges.

If you move Deano82's red number 13, so that it touches reds 1, 12 and 14, you get the same thing (rotated slightly).

                    Well done to you both.

                    • Potting 3 consecutive Yellow balls ?

                      Hi

I was in my local club tonight and some guy said that there is a shot that he can do in which he can legally pot 3 consecutive yellow balls! I am no expert but i find this hard to believe - is this true or just him winding me up ?

I was thinking it has to be a free ball or something but it doesn't seem to work out - anyone got any ideas or solutions

                      cheers

                      paul

                      • How about this - you have a free ball with one red on the table. You nominate yellow and pot it and one way or another the red gets knocked in as well (could be before the yellow), you then pot yellow as your colour, and then the yellow again as the first of the colours.

                        • I suggest the player was playing on 3 tables simultaneous and was on all tables on the yellow at the time. In theory a possibility.

btw, is it ever done? playing on more than 1 table at a time. (like in chess).

                          • Round 304 - Gorillas in the mist

Gordon has brought home his friend Quinten, another little, but very strong and somewhat maverick gorilla, to play a frame of snooker in our misty back garden.

Quinten breaks off and wins the frame at that very visit - that is, by the time that Quinten's opening visit is over, Gordon already needs a snooker (or snookers) and concedes!

However, rather interestingly, I noticed that there was at least one ball that never moved for the entire duration of the frame.

What are (a) the highest possible score that Quinten got, (b) the 2nd highest possible score, and (c) his lowest possible score?

Answers can be submitted either on the thread or by PM, at the submitter's choice. I will (unless feeling unusually generous) only respond to answers that include all three parts, and shall only answer "Correct" if all three parts are correct, or "No" if not all three parts are correct.

OK, "No" to this answer, I'm afraid, and similarly No to the answer received by PM from snookersfun this morning.

                                But keep trying...
