    Ok, here it goes:
possible answers are: 23,21 - 34,32 - for Talia (brunette followed by blond)
    45,43 - 56,54 for Florence; 67,65 -78,76 for Sylvia and 89,87 for Elizabeth.

Now, Oliver, which knows, the last digit, initially has no idea, which haircolor she has, therefore he wasn't told the digits 1,2,8 or 9 (which appear only once in the above list).

Even after getting that piece of info DG doesn't know either, it follows, that he didn't have the first digit of 2,3,7 or 8 (which were left with one option each).

Meanwhile we are left with 45,43 - 56,54 for Florence and 67,65 for Sylvia.
Oliver didn't have the last digit of 5, the only ambiguous answer left to him, as the answer was clear to him now. He also shouts out a haircolor, which fits only one girl, otherwise Charlie couldn't have named the girl. Therefore he must have shouted out 'blond' (Had he shouted brown, either Flo or Eli had been possible.)

Yes it is! And, for the point, the explanation?!

I've changed the wording of the question above very slightly. Not much, but if you've already read it, may be worth reading again before posting an answer.

Question 18 - Meet Gordon and Charlie

It's actually now, Obligation. I think I've got the question to work. I hope so… if it does, I’m quite proud of this one !....

    Question 18

My pet gorilla Gordon is practising his 11 times tables. It's taken him a long time to learn them - my pet orang-utan Oliver and I think it's because he's been thinking too much about girls. In fact, Gordon has been talking a lot on the phone to various lady gorillas - Florence, Elizabeth, Sylvia and Talia.

We know that one is Gordon’s girlfriend, but haven't yet managed to work out which! We also know that Gordon always likes brunettes and blondes, but haven't met any of the lady gorillas so we don't know whether each is brunette or blonde.

    "Who's your girlfriend?" Oliver asks.
"Is she brunette or blonde, this time?" I ask.
“Go on, tell us!” begs my pet chimpanzee Charlie, the cleverest of the lot of us.

"I'm not telling any of you," says Gordon, embarrassed. "It's private. But here's what I'll do. I'll choose a number from 1 to 9 beginning with the same letter as my girlfriend's name. Now I'm multiplying it by 11, and if she's blonde I'll subtract one from the number, but if she's brunette, I'll add one."

    "OK," I say. "Now what?"

"Well, davis_greatest," says Gordon, "the first digit of the number I'm left with is..." and at this point, Gordon whispers the digit in my ear, so that neither Oliver nor Charlie can hear.

"And the last digit, Oliver, is..." and Gordon whispers it into Oliver's ear, so that neither Charlie nor I can hear."

"I wonder whether Gordon's girlfriend is brunette or blonde. I wish I knew!" remarks Oliver. "Do you know?" he asks me.

    "No idea." I say.

"Well, I know now," says Oliver. “Her hair colour is …” and he shouts it out.

“In that case,” says Charlie to Gordon, “your girlfriend is called…” and he calls out her name.

"Damn!" exclaims Gordon. "How the hell did you know?"

What is the name of Gordon's girlfriend as deduced by Charlie, and how did Oliver and he work out her hair colour and name respectively?

I should be able to put another question up here just after 9pm UK time. I just want to check that it is definitely possible to solve before I post it - I wouldn't want to embarrass my orang-utan! And just going to have dinner and watch some TV first too...

Edit: Getting a bit busy... might not be till morning. I'll see...

It's a good strategy though. How else do you think snookersfun has been getting all these points? You were just unlucky this time.

Yes, ps likes to make the files much too big, because it is a graphic designing programme it gives the most quality.

Whereas paint is just a very basic programme which hasn't really changed since it was first introduced, so not worried about quality of the pic so much. (but the picture still looks fine to me )
