Yes, it would.

To receive a banana, an ape needs only find any three reds in the pack and join their centres to form an equilateral triangle.

There do not need to be other reds in between.

Round 321 - Triangular bananas

Since Gwendoline was only able to make a 144 break at her first attempt, Gordon is teaching her to play scaled down snooker, with only 10 reds, as shown in the picture below.

Gordon is also teaching her about geometry. He tells her that every time she can find three reds in the pack and join their centres to form an equilateral triangle, she will be given a banana.

An example of how Gwendoline gets her first banana is shown below.

Gwendoline knows that after she has got her bananas, Barry The Baboon will come to play the same game. He will also look for equilateral triangles and get a banana for each - but every banana that Barry gets must be given to him by Gwendoline.

Before Barry comes to play, Gwendoline is allowed to remove as many of the 10 red balls as she likes, in order to stop Barry taking too many of her bananas. However, for every ball she removes, she must give Barry one banana.

As Gwendoline is so new and has never had any bananas, you must help her keep as many as possible.

Bid here how many bananas you can help Gwendoline to keep by the time that Barry has finished playing. And how many bananas does Barry then finish with?

Round 320 - The new arrival

Gordon is the first of the apes to come back from their holidays. He has just arrived from Seattle, and is teaching his new baby gorilla friend (who came back with him but is too shy to say her name) how to play snooker.

She seems to pick it up quite quickly, and Gordon keeps score of her break using the very carefully gorilla paw-drawn 6x6 square grid below. Every time she pots a ball, Gordon writes the value of the ball potted in a randomly chosen empty square, using a crayon of the appropriate colour.

For example, if she pots a red, he write 1 in a red crayon in an empty square.

Gordon's friend does rather well, making a total clearance at her first attempt. Gordon tots up her break by adding the score in each column of his grid, and then adding those column sub-totals. He also checks it by adding the score in each row of his grid, and then adding those row sub-totals.

Oddly enough, he finds that every row and every column has the same sub-total!

Give an example of what the completed grid might look like. You should try to make the baby gorilla's break as large as possible (and state what the highest break you found is).
