    right, perhaps not theoretically 126 would be the highest achievable, wouldn't it? but I don't think one can avoid having the 5 '2pointers'.

    It will be 42 if you put all the balls in one long Line!

    But if you arrange them in other ways, you can have balls being part of more than one Line, and so score more!

    Hehe. ... but it is the number of balls that should balance, not the value of balls - otherwise the table will topple.

    Surely for 301, the ideal solution would be of some sort of hexagonal/triangular structure, containing the 21 balls.
