"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can." David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.
Ready to better one of them now (yeah, slow, but watching snooker simultaneously):
R.264- 299 now (I really hope that's it)
Congratulations snookersfun on the new high break!
So, I think the top bids at the moment are
Round 261: 298
Round 263: 272
Round 264: 299
Impressive, all of them, but all can be bettered!

If anyone is still working on new breaks for rounds 261, 263 or 264, please either post them before 10pm BST tonight, or state that you would like more time. Otherwise, I'll post the highest possible breaks after that time.
In the meantime, snookersfun, please put up the breaks you have found...

If nobody minds waiting, I would be maybe interested to work them out on the beach Friday/Saturday
Do not expect anything before 10pm tonight though....
OK, we'll leave the Big Ape Breaks open until Monday...

... and meanwhile, abextra has got the maximum break, a 299, for round 261 (sent by PM)! Congratulations!
abextra, please post it on the thread.

OK, please put up all breaks found on the thread when ready for rounds 261, 263 and 264. abextra's 299 break for round 261 cannot be bettered - snookersfun's bids for rounds 263 and 264 can each be improved by just one point!
And quickly, round 265:
Barry The Baboon takes, from his enormous supply of snooker balls in his shop, some red balls (each worth 1 point) and a prime number of black balls (each worth 7 points) and displays them in his shop window. The number of balls displayed is a perfect square number, as is the total number of points.
What is the largest possible number of balls that could be on display?

For anyone quick off the mark who has already read round 265, please note the addition of the word "prime" above - accidentally omitted at first, sorry!

Round 261 - Big Ape Break Bonus Pocket Bonanza e) Potting a colour into a pocket of the same colour as the ball (e.g. pink into pink pocket) scores triple points (in this example 3 x 6 = 18). Potting a colour into a pocket of a different colour scores a bonus equal to the value of the pocket. For example, pink into yellow pocket scores 6+2 = 8 points.
Here it is in hidden text (maybe somebody is still working on it ).
black in black (21) - green in green (9) - blue in blue (15) - pink in pink (18) - black in blue (12) - blue in pink (11) - brown in blue (9) - pink in pink (18) - blue in blue (15) - green in green (9) - black in black (21) - brown in brown (12) - pink in black (13) - green in green (9) - black in black (21) = 213 points
15 red balls = 15 points
yellow in brown (6), green in black (10), brown in brown (12), blue in black (12),
pink in brown (10), black in black (21) = 71 points

Just back... not too much time atm. nor on beach
But I did find a 300 for R264 (or was it 263) and shall put it up whenever dinner is made, snooker is over and all that....
I've found 273 for R263 and 300 for R264 , will send them by PM, so feel free to post your breaks here!
Abextra you are the champion at these!
So, this took a bit longer than expected to come up, but blame Fu and Greene, who carried on for ever...
but on the bright side, I now have the 273 as well (wohee), so following are both breaks in hidden text: 263:
7 in 7, 4 in 4, 6 in 7, 7 in 4,
5 in 7, 4 in 4, 7 in 7, 6 in 4,
5 in 7, 4 in 4, 7 in 7, 6 in 4,
5 in 7, 4 in 4, 7 in 7
which should add up to 192
15 reds and
2 in 4, 3 in 7, 4 in 4, 5 in 7, 6 in 4, 7 in 7 = 66
sum: 192+15+66=273
300:
7 in 7, 4 in 4, 6 in 7, 3 in 3,
7 in 7, 4 in 4, 6 in 7, 3 in 3,
7 in 7, 4 in 4, 2 in 2, 6 in 6, 5 in 5, 3 in 3, 7 in 7
which should add up to 215
15 reds and
2 in 4, 3 in 7, 4 in 4, 5 in 7, 6 in 4, 7 in 7 = 70
