It seems that some people think this round has been going on too long so... without further a due. the answers:

Well known pleb, Don Gilbert was arrested yesterday for stealing a packet of special edition Dr. Who Top Trumps playing cards. He confessed to the crime straight away, admitting that he could not cope with not being able to afford them. Don then made a big song and dance about his obsession with all entities within the Dr Who universe from Daleks to Cybermen. This combined with his card game fixation proved too much to bear. It was later discovered that Don had also stolen the Everton Football Club, Rivers of the World and Marilyn Monroe editions of the cards. For his crimes, Don was sent to prison. His cellmate was called (Steven [S)tolk], he was an underground rave DJ who went by the name of MC Man. Usually Don tried to avoid him because as well as being very muscular, he had a bad gas problem. On many a night Don would awake in gags as nauseating methane veered up to his bunk as he slept. As hideous fumes exited Steve’s rear, Don felt he was close to death or near suicide at least. A prison building is not designed to be well ventilated, thus compounded Don’s suffering. Two other inmates, Henry and Harold learnt about Steve’s wind problem and began to sp[(rea)d] malicious rumours around the prison. They told inmates that Steve was lactose intolerant and his bad wind came from him having to drink soya milk instead of regular. They even wrote lethal letters to the Warden: (O{wen) [Bo}nd] about Steve’s problem. At the end of the day though Don didn’t give two hoots about Steve, he just wanted to get out of prison and back to his old life. He was tired of having to keep his cell all spick and span whilst other prisoners just snorted lines of smuggled cocaine. After a month of incarceration, Don got his wish and was a free man, now he could live an honest life for once. When he got his personal effects back from the Warden, he sent a text to his girlfriend: Hey Les, U Wanna Watch ‘Martians Attack!’ Tonight?

I was in a rush to get the answers out before another meeting, apologies for picking out the wrong mistake...

35 out of 36 was a good effort. I thought Marco Fu might trip a few people up, but never mind. All good fun

well the leader is still 30 names so far, will set a deadline of 9pm gmt which i believe is 30 o clock korean time. so the clock is ticking.

(PS. no repeats even if there are two players of that name and the player must at least be well known so no random Mongolians with two letter names like Pa or Ae, ok?)

Actually, I have just recounted (thanks chasmmi) and find that my list contained 28 and not 15 as previously bid!

I got my computer to count the ones I had identified, and didn't realise that it wasn't starting at the beginning!

Round One Hundred And Thirty Nine.

As that was so much fun I thought I would make my own. Same rules apply, post a figure and PM me the list, good luck:

Unfortunately Chasmi's 37 include repeats of Day and another player who I'll come to.

There were to my knowledge 36 in there, and therefore the point is shared between The Statman and davis_greatest who both scored 35... d_g missed out on John Read (possibly the most obscurde name in there). The Statman missed out on Jackie Rea (who actually appeared twice - three times if you count the appearance in ready as well).

Kane was not accepted as his name is Dene O'Kane, nor ws Ken, as I was looking for surnames.

    Here's the list of mine:

As a young boy, maKING my way home from football practice, I was involved in a car accident. A WHITE lotus (like the one driven by JAMES BOND) hit me and sent me flying into the GREENEry. I spent three months in hospital with a broken feMUR. PHYsically it could have been a lot worse, I had a lucky escape. I had lots of visits from family and friends which helped ease the BURDEN, and lots of presents: grapes, an appLE Every day, a stuffed PARROTT, a dartboard and a stuffed panDA; VISits from my favourite football team, pop stars and comedians. I was very lucky. My favourite DOTTy Aunt came and visited me several times and one DAY sticks in my mind. She came dressed all in BLACK and wearing a GRAY soWESTer as she'd had to walk MILES in the rain as the buses were on strike (she lived in NEWBURY and the hospital was in HULL!) she was a big WALKER though, always READy to stroll if needed. Anyway, why do I remember that day, well she brought a gift. A WILSON tennis racket (for a boy with a broken leg!) What an olD, ODD woMAN She was. My Mum reckons it's because she is a VIRGO? As she arrived I waS WAILing in agony while they stuck a needle in ME. Oh god I hated that. How can anything so SMALL cause so much pain? WHEN DRY, she left and I had another visit from a friend of mine from school. He bought me some comics, JUDGE Dredd was my favourite - FUll of action. FRANCIS COuld always be relied upon to bring me some good comics, which helped me grin and BEAR the pain. The three months did DRAG On, but when better I went home with my Uncle GILES in his MORGAN car, a REAl treat.
